Jin was shocked to see Jungkook at his doorstep, leaning against the door with his arms folded over his chest and his eyes shut. He looked deep in thought, not hearing Jin approach. What had happened? Why did he look so sad? He had gone on a lunch date with his mother, Jin had expected him to come back happy, because for once it hadn't been a matchmaking date.

Unless, it had been. But would she have done that? Lied to him just to set him up on another one of her fruitless dates? She couldn't be that heartless, he concluded stopping in front of Jungkook.

This time, Jungkook opened his eyes, his gaze falling on Jin instantly. His chest rose and fell heavily and he expelled a shaky breath before throwing his arms around Jin's neck, mumbling something inaudible into Jin's shoulder. Jin hugged him back, wrapping his arms around his body in a comforting embrace, before asking, "What's wrong, baby?"

"I'm such a fool, Jin," he said, his voice tired.

What? "No. You're not a fool, baby. Why would you say that?"

"I thought she was sincere," he said, his hold on Jin not releasing. His face still buried in the crook of Jin's neck. "I thought... I don't know why I believed her. Why is she my mother? Couldn't it have been anybody else?"

Jin's eyes shut, his hands rubbing soothingly all over Jungkook's back. So, it hadn't been a lunch-date between the two of them, like he'd suspected? She'd really taken him out on the guise of spending time with him, only to shove yet another young girl in his face. This was the height of it.

At least, in the past she made her intentions known, she asked Jin boldly to drive Jungkook to one place or another for a date with this A-list teen actress or that politician's daughter who'd spent all her life in the UK. She'd done it openly but this was different. At this point, she would get Jungkook married before even Jungkook realized it.

"I'm so sorry you have to go through this. You shouldn't," Jin managed to say, amidst the wave of anger rolling through him.

"I can't do this anymore," Jungkook said, his voice cracking. He shook his head against Jin's shoulder. "I'm going to lose my mind if I have to sit through one more date. I can't."

Same here. Jin was already losing his mind from all of the charade. He was going crazy here and he was so frustrated that his only option out of this mess would not be accepted by Jungkook. To be honest, it would not be accepted by anyone, but that was all he could do. His brain was fried.

"What do you want to do?"

"I don't know," he groaned. "I really don't know. Do I tell her about us? Would that do something? After what happened today, I don't think she would swallow the news of our relationship smoothly."

"What do you mean after what happened today?"

"I stood up to her in front of her guests," Jungkook said. This time, he pulled away but only far enough to be able to look Jin in his eyes, so Jin could see it fill with hardened resolve. "The girl she had intended to match me with is in love with someone else. His name is Jaehee. She tried to plead her case but just like my mother doesn't give a shit about my feelings, her own mother shut down hers as well because Jaehee is 'poor and ugly', whereas she could have a catch like me. I was so angry, I told her off and walked out."
