Of course she remembered him. She remembered everything. But her mind wasn't working straight. She just needed time to process, that's all. The look on Loki's face made her want to reach over and give him a hug. Her baby brother. The one she would protect no matter what. The same brother who used to do her hair as she got older just as a way to be around her. She felt bad for lying to him but she was too overwhelmed right now to think straight.
Memories flashed through Reina's head. She watched them like a movie that she had starred in. She re-felt the emotions she had back then. She re-felt the pain. She re-lived over 2000 years of life in a matter of milliseconds
*About 1500 years ago*
A 500 year old Reina returned from a trip across the 9 realms with her little sister, Hela. Both looked to be in their early twenties as Asgardians stop aging in their prime until they choose to start aging again at a slower rate. It was late but the 2 were glad to be heading home. As soon as Heimdall opened the rainbow bridge for them and they stepped through, they were greeted by 2 little boys running up to hug both of them.
"Thor and Loki refused to go to bed for they wanted to greet you when you returned," The 2 women looked over to see their mother holding a 2-year-old Val on her hip.
"Did you two miss us?" Hela questioned with a smirk and the 2 nodded their heads excitedly. The girls gave each other a knowing look and walked over to greet their mother and baby sister. When all the greetings were taken care of, they became the walk on the bridge that led to the Asgard castle.
After a bit of walking both the young boys began to complain about being tired so Reina and Hela knelt down so that Loki could Jump on Reina's back and Thor could jump on Hela's. They stood up again, and continued to walk down the bridge as Loki and Thor slept on their backs.
"So, How is everything in the 9 realms?" Their mother asked once she knew the boys were asleep.
"They remain at peace, and protected." Reina stated calmly
"They were also ecstatic to meet their future queen." Hela jokes, nudging Reina.
"That is far in the future, sister. I am not queen yet."
"You will make an excellent ruler one day, Reina" Their mother claimed. Earning a nervous smile from Reina. She was the heir to the throne, but could she rule Asgard and protect the 9 realms as her father does?
Reina waited outside the grand hall for her father to announce her entrance. Today was a very special day. Today was her coronation. In only a few moments she would be the queen of Asgard.
"Now please welcome, your soon to be queen, my daughter, Reina Odinsdottir." Her father announced as she walked into the grand hall. The room was filled with people who made a walkway for Reina in the middle. Once Reina got to the end she saw Hela and now full grown Loki, Thor, and Val, standing with their mother. They each gave her a comforting smile before she turned to look at her father and kneeled before him.
" Reina, Do you swear to protect the 9 realms and make your rule over Asgard fair and just?"
"I do"
"Then I, Odin Allfather, crown Reina Odinsdottir as Queen of Asgard, protector of the 9 realms." Everyone in the hall cheered as Odin put the crown on top of Reina's head, officially making her queen.
*Beck to present*
Loki and Reina entered back where the others were. When Val asked what happened and if she remembered she Loki just looked at the ground.
"No, There has to be another way" Val screams
"There's not, Val." But no matter how Loki tried to console her, she kept ranting.
Finally Reina had enough and screamed "Valkyrie. That's enough"
Hela, Thor, Loki, and Val all looked at her in shock before Val spoke up to make sure she heard her correctly, "What did you just call me?"
Shit...
