The power rush hit Reina not long after she started to absorb Surtur's powers. The gem on her necklace glowed, matching the stone on top of her staff that she still held in her hand. Surtur's big figure started to shrink slowly the more power Reina drained from him. The sky tinted red as the sun started to set and the battle raged on.

Reina continued to drain the power from Surtur's body. More. More. She just needed more. She could feel it. The power coursing through her veins, more than she had ever felt before. Something unlocked in her. A desire. A need. Call it what you want, but this was something new. A craving. A craving for power, and a lot of it. For the first time since she could remember she felt it. She felt the flames as the coursed through her veins. She felt the heat as it raised in her veins. It was getting hotter. Too hot. This wasn't good. She could never feel heat before. This was too much. Way too much.

His power was burning her from the inside out. This time she was dying. He continued to shrink as his power got sucked out of him, but not nearly fast enough compared to Reina was was getting more tired and in more pain with each passing second. She couldn't give up now. She was to close, even if it killed her. She wasn't loosing to him. She wouldn't admit that he was stronger. That despite her power and her crown, that her power wasn't strong enough to beat him. Not strong enough to end his rein of terror on all she cared about. That's not going to be her story. That's not going to be how she was remembered. So she pushed through the pain, pushed through the burning sensation that was boiling her blood, burning her muscles. Her eyes glowed red, brighter than ever as her hair burned scarlett as it flowed in the wind. His power was burning her from the inside out. This time she was dying. The gem in her necklace was the first to start cracking. The power it had absorbed being too much for the small crystal to take. The color pulsing as cracks began to form on the outside of the gem. The cracks only growing as more and more power was consumed. There was only so much power it could take. It didn't last long after the first cracks became to show. The necklace shattered into a million pieces and fell to the ground and the gem on the staff wasn't far behind. Despite all the staff had survived and the power it gave Reina as a kid, it wasn't meant for this. The staff's gem shatter only a minute after the necklace's one did.

Now it was up to her and her alone. No more weapons or advancements other than her own power. She saw Surtur continue to shrink. By now he was the size of a normal human. She was almost their but she didn't know if she could last much longer. The burning under her skin was worse than ever, but she has to keep pushing. She had to win or she would die, Not just her but her family as well. If she lost she would let them down. Loosing would be signing their death sentence herself.

The more power she absorbed, the hotter it got. Beads of sweet dripped from her forehead as her face contorted into one of severe agony. By now Surtur's army was gone, his power not being able to keep them in this realm any longer. Ta Ka now stood motionless, not even attempting to block the attacks from Thor, Val, and Hela.

Surtur's form became the size of a human, then a baby, and soon became no bigger then Reina's hand until he had seized to exist at all.

The power flow stopped, leaving Reina suspended mid air for a moment. Her consciousness was slipping. She was tired, but she had won. The fight was over and her family was safe. Her breathing became shallow, slowing. It was getting harder to breathe. She was getting weaker. She felt her power slipping out of her grasp. She was exhausted. Her eyes started to shut as the world went black. The sun was setting as the red from her powers faded away. Her body slumped and she started to free fall back to the ground... and fast.
