Chapter 37

- Love Letter -

"Mommy, I'm home!" Sigaw ko habang tinatanggal ang sapatos ko to change into my inside slippers.

Kakauwi ko lang after taking lectures from my professors. Nagmamadali akong umakyat upstairs out of excitement because after kong makapagpalit ng damit at makapag-ayos kaunti, I'll go to hospital again to visit Yuwen. 

Bihis na bihis na akong lumabas ng kwarto ko, I even curled my hair. Wala lang, trip ko lang. Humahaba na naman kasi ang buhok ko as if I didn't get a haircut last week. 

Nakita ko si Howard na inaabangan ako sa baba. He's also dressed. Halatang may lakad. 

"Saan punta mo bata?" Tanong ko sa kaniya. 

"Sama Ate?" He said. 

"Ha?" I'm not getting him. 

"Sama ako. Punta ka kay Kuya, 'di ba?" 

"Oo... pero nakapagpaalam ka na kay Mommy?" 

Tumango naman ang kapatid ko. I drive us to the St. Luke's Medical Center where Yuwen is admitted to. 

"Behave." Paalala ko kay Howard bago kami pumasok sa room ni Yuwen. 

Howard smiled at me. After, he entered the room agad and didn't even open the door for me nor waited for me. I went inside the room after him, I saw how he rushed towards Yuwen and greeted him. 

"Kuya!" Howard hugged Yuwen. 

I see how surprised and happy Yuwen is to see my younger brother around. Nagkwentuhan sila after no'n. I was in my phone, chit chatting with Sabrina and Madie when an uninvited guest appeared. 

"Uh... I didn't know they'll be here, Yuwen." Malditang sabi ni Nadia. 

She bought walnut pie with her and flowers. 

Napatingin ako kay Yuwen with so much doubt in my eyes. I badly want to ask him why she's here but I couldn't bring myself to ask him in front of her, Nadia. 

Yuwen gave me an assuring smile and even winked at me. I don't know what was that mean kaya I ignored it nalang. I stood up and kinuha ko ang dalang pie ni Nadia. Ipinunta ko iyon sa kitchen para iprepare. 

I reached for the knife pero kinuha iyon ni Nadia for me. I didn;t even know she's here with me na pala. 

"Let me help you na." Plastic niyang sabi sabay ngiti. 

Tinanguhan ko nalang siya. I let her cut the pie. Habang ako, kumuha nalang ako ng fork and plates. 

"You know what, Ali?"

I turned my head on her. 

"When Yuwen and I were still together, he's so gentle with me... protective and caring. Yuwen was deeply in love with me back in the day kaya nga nakakapagtaka he managed to move on so quickly after our breakup kasi he told me before he couldn't live without me." She faked laugh. "I heard your contractual relationship with him ended na? Why you're still here, pinagsisiksikan ang sarili e wala ka naman lugar dito?"

I don't know what's her point pero she's getting into my nerves. 

"You know what, Nadia?" I was mocking her words. "Pwede ka maging kindergarden teacher I mean iba ang potential mo! Galing mo kasi mag-storytell. Marami kang batang maaliw." Sarkastiko ang tono ng pananalita ko.

She stabbed the cake with the knife showing so much anger. She's trying to show inferiority with her glaring at me. 

I smirked. "By the way last time I checked, Yuwen dumped you because you cheated on him with Axle, right? Your breakup with him is a highly controversial subject for the media. Its all over the internet Nadia. Hindi ako nakatira sabundok para 'di ko malaman."
