"You think it'll be a success?" Archer asked.
"It should be." Sagot ko. Ibinaba ko ang telescope at tumingin sa kanya. Nakatingin lamang siya sa karagatan, we were waiting for the right timing.
"Just stay beside me, I don't want to be killed by him if anything happens to you." Natatawang sabi nito.
"Kaya ko sarili ko." Pagyayabang ko habang tumatawa.
It was nerve wrecking as the clock ticks so we tried our best to lighten up the mood.
"Kayo na ba?" Tanong pa nito habang nakangisi. Nanlaki ang mata ko sa biglaang tanong niya. Hindi ko alam ang isasagot ko, kami na nga ba?
"H-hindi ko alam!" Medyo napalakas ang pagsigaw ko, napatingin naman ako sa paligid at mabuti na lamang wala nakarinig. Tumawa lamang ito.
"Relax! I can keep secrets." Kumindat pa ito na tila mas lalong nang-iinis. Hindi ko alam kung gaano na kapula ang mukha ko sa pinagsasabi niya pero mukhang mas natutuwa pa ito.
"Shut the fuck up." Banta ko sa kanya sabay balik ng telescope sa aking mata upang hindi nito mahalata ang pamumula ng aking mukha.
"Anyway, his only mission there was to protect you. He can't promise not to kill any Donovan assasins, he's still a Serpent at the end of the day. He needs to fight like one."
Natahimik ako sa sinabi niya. Who am I to be protected like this? I could suddenly feel my heart getting heavy, everyone was so focused protecting me without even thinking of themselves.
I don't want anyone to die for me.
"I have a favor for you and you need to promise you'll do it." Seryosong sabi ko. Bigla rin sumeryoso ang kanyang mukha at hinihintay ang susunod na sasabihin ko.
"Anything." He answered as if he was ready to take on anything I asked him to do. Really, his loyalty is a whole different level.
"If I ordered you to leave me, leave me there. Don't die for me." I ordered.
Dahan dahan bumuka ang bibig at tila hindi makahanap ng tamang salitang sasabihin. Bakas ang labis na pagkabigla sa mukha niya na tila hindi na inaasahan ang sinabi ko.
"No. It's part of my duty to protect you." He said firmly after he recovered.
"I can handle myself Archer. I'm not a kid, don't treat me like that."
I appreciate all that they have done for me but aside from being my assasins, they've been my friends and families and I won't let anyone die because of me.
"I felt like if someone dies because of me, that's on me Archer. I have to carry the burden for the rest of my life. I should be the one protecting all of you since I am the leader here, not the other way around."
"We won't be here if you're not here. If you die, that's on us too. I understand you but that's my duty as Donovan."
"Archer is right." Sabay kaming napatingin ni Archer sa nagsalita.
Naglakad si Sif palapit sa amin. Her face was serious, fierce and beautiful.
She was ice cold.
"Donovan has failed to protect your mother before. Her death was the death of our group. We can never let him kill us twice." Humawak ito sa railings at tumanaw sa malawak na karagatan. I just realized how cold and pretty is at the same time.
"It's been our home since we were born. Were not protecting you, we're protecting the Donovan so you cannot order us to do otherwise."
Nagkatinginan lamang kami ni Archer sa sinabi niya. I sighed in defeat at hindi na sumagot pa.
