Chapter 1: Just Best Friends

"Akane! Where are you going?" She was chased by a pink headed girl running after her, followed by the rest of the girls in the classroom.

Akane turned to them before heading out of the class. "Going to meet up with Sasuke," she simply answered. They all 'ooo'ed and began to pester behind her.

"Awww! Are you two finally going out?!" One girl questioned, making the rest of their friends squeal at the idea.

It only made Akane laugh at their assumptions and wave. "Are you kidding me! With Sasuke? Not in a million years! We're just best friends," she answered. This made the girls grumble in defeat.

It is unfortunately true. Both Sasuke and Akane have always been together since they were little munchkins when they were learning how to add and subtract in decimals. Ever since she was shot in dodgeball by him, they immediately befriended each other after he was forced to see her in the infirmary room.

Many people assumed that they were dating until they finally realized they had a sibling-kind of relationship. And neither one of them ever thought about dating each other, not even once did it cross their minds.

"Me dating Sasuke... Ha. It would be like licking my own blood," Akane said to herself jokingly as she walked down the hall. She has a habit of talking to herself too. "Now, where is that bird-ass bastard...?"

The brunette stopped at his classroom not too far away from hers, hearing a couple of girls loudly speak inside the room.

"Oh, please, Sasuke! We would like for you guys to come with us!" One girl that Akane saw crept towards the raven.

"Yeah! We also have tons of food at this party, so staying hungry won't be a problem!" Another girl with pigtails said as the two of them circled him.

Hearing this, Akane knew Sasuke doesn't like going to loud places like parties.

Sasuke put his hands up in defense, looking away from them. "Uh... I would rather pass." Listening to this commotion, Akane just sighed. He can never be so tough in front of girls.

As the situation continued when the two girls try to pressure him in to going, Akane bolted into the room with an innocent, unknowingly smile on her face.

"Sasuke, my dear!! I was looking all over for you!" She boasted while she forced herself to cling his arm.

They all looked at her in shock, but eventually Sasuke knew what her game was. "Akane...," he whispered, sounding worried.

"Hey! What are you doing, holding onto Sasuke like that?!" The girl with pigtails shouted.

Akane can feel their jealousy illuminating from their bodies but ignores it by smiling. "Oh, Sasuke~! We have a date, remember?" she asked innocently to him and the girls couldn't believe her words.

He twitched his brow. "Wha-?!"

"I'm sorry, but I have to steal Sasuke away this afternoon. He already made plans with me by walking me home from school today and buying me a banana sundae like he promised, now did you honey-bunch," she hugged his arm. Sasuke's face was blank.

"I-"

"Good! We should set sail then!" Dragging his arm behind her, Akane sped out of the classroom without any protest from the girls who are now raging inside with little green monsters screwing their heads. She can hear them yelling at her from behind which it made her laugh hysterically.

"HAHAHA!! Wow, I got them good this time!! Haha! You should've seen the look on their face!!" Sasuke only narrowed his eyes at her while she held her stomach in a fit of laughter.

He was obviously embarrassed walking around with her being so loud. "That act was a bit unnecessary," he told her.

"Aw, come on... Hahaha... You knew it was funny!" She wiped a tear from her eye as she caught her breath finally. "It was so easy to imitate a fan girl, I think I almost died inside while launching myself at you to take my virginity!"

"Only you would think that. And by the way, who said I was going to walk you home and buy you a sundae?!" He stared at her annoyingly as the two walked out of the school.

Akane smiled like a child. "You always do, silly! You're going to buy me one anyways because you love me!" She bounced happily.

"I'm not sure if that's the right reason...," Sasuke mumbled under his breath.

Akane pouted. Tilting her head at him, she gave him the puppy eyes in a begging manner. "Pretty please~? I just helped you get away from those girls, didn't I?"

"I'm not sure if that was helping," he said jokingly. This made Akane huffed at her cheeks angrily at him.

"You're mean! How could you say that?!" She cried.

Sasuke laughed at her as he put his hand on top of her warm head, patting it. "Kidding, kidding. Fine... I'll buy you a sundae just because you did that."

"Yaaay~! Banana sundae~!" She cheered with arms in the air and then she added. "And you love me!"

He nodded, waving his hand at her in lowering her energy. "Yes, Akane. And I love you," he chuckled nervously, smiling.

"YAAAY!!"

Even though Sasuke is known as a plain, emotionless guy at school, he can really smile and laugh comfortably only in front of Akane. Now looking at him, she never thought of seeing this bright face of his when she first met him in grade school.
