Chapter 24: Banana Sundae

"The operation is completed. Your father is in good hands."

Akane heavily breathed like a rhino as a few tears peeked from the corners of her lashes, wiggling out a relieved smile plastered across her proud face. Sasuke patted her back when the doctor grinned at the two.

After notifying them about her father's rest, they watched as the doctor exit out of the waiting room, leaving them dead in silence.

Finally, Akane sighed blissfully and attacked the raven boy with a tight, breath-taking hug. "Yayyy~!! This needs a celebration!" Batting her wide eyes at him, she smiled like a cat with a knowing expression. Sasuke can recognize that specific look anywhere.

"Alright, alright. Banana sundae?" He asked, causing an uproar from the girl by punching the air above her head. He gently smirked to himself as he stared at Akane marching forward, content to see his best friend back to her usual self.

She turned back to him and latched onto his arm as they speed walk to the cafe where they purchase the delicious treat. "Sasuke, don't turn into a slowpoke. You were a murkrow just a second ago!"

"Still using that Pokemon reference?"

"Psh, you're talking to the Pokemon master, mister," she scolded feverishly. "Just be glad that I'm not dueling you in a battle! I'll be kicking your ass with my hologram charizard."

"I don't know what the fuck is that, but whatever floats your boat," shrugging, Sasuke was yanked by Akane when they entered the local cafe in a blink of an eye.

As they were seated by the window with Yiruma tracks playing in the background, Sasuke never seen his best friend so lively while she ordered her typical banana sundae and waited patiently for it to arrive.

It was peacefully quiet until Akane was the one who spoke first. "Tell Momo I said sorry for taking you away," she announced suddenly, holding her hands in a praying manner. "She must be really upset!"

Referring back to the last image he saw her, he couldn't agree more. Shaking his head, Sasuke twitched his palm under the table and eyed the brunette with a hard stare. "Mind if I tell you something?"

Akane raised her brows. "Yeah, sure."

"Momo and I...," he trailed hesitantly," things are not the same as it used to be." By his vague explanation, it caused her to look at her in confusion.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Momo has been... How can I say? A little off lately," he said slowly with a puzzled face. "She's a bit possessive and greedy in a way."

"In a bad way?" she asked. "But you don't seem to mind, do you?"

Rubbing his chin, the more he thought about the raven headed girl working up every single time he mentioned Akane, the more he started to feel repelled by her. "I don't know, I'm starting to get the feeling that she's a yandere," he said mindlessly.

Chuckling, Akane wavered her hand at him. "Let's just hope that she's not! Well, if she is that crazy, then that means she cares a lot about you, right?"

Before Sasuke can answer her, their waitress appeared by them with the brunette's tall cup of decorative ice cream which suppressed a delighted gasp from Akane. "MY SUNDAE~!!" she sang with smiled eyes, moving her hand to scoop a spoonful of vanilla and enveloped it.
