Chapter 26: Out of Love and In Love

Sasuke watched distantly while he eyed his bouncy best friend prance from the snack bar hugging bags of sugary goodness and finger food in her arms. Her joyous face nuzzled against crinkling bags of chips and popcorn as she walked mindlessly with her head in the clouds.

Just seeing how happy she is with food around her never made Sasuke feel so overwhelmed with himself, smiling.

"How long are you guys been going out?" Sakura accused suddenly once she sat at the table where the rest of her friends are.

Without the Uchiha's attention, Momo answered for both of them, "Almost five months." Then Naruto curved his blond brows.

"Really? I didn't know you guys were going out," he said mindlessly, earning a nudge from Tenten.

She covered it with a small smile. "Almost as long as Akane and Arai, right? I heard a lot of great things about you, Momo, from her."

Surprised at the news, Momo never imagined the brunette to talk highly about her with other people. This is the first time she heard of it, but the envy in her grew bigger.

"I see..." She clenched her chest tightly. She must think Akane is so naive about her jealousy.

In the corner of his eyes, Sasuke continue to watch pleasantly as he saw Akane make her way over to the table, until she aimlessly made a child half of her height stumble backwards and came down his ice cream cone. At the same time, her square-bagged popcorn and pocket of pretzels spilled onto the floor.

The little boy sobbed hysterically, "MY ICE CREAM!"

"MY SNACKS!" Akane mimicked. Both the mother of the child and Arai ran towards them for their need of comfort.

Sasuke covered his mouth with his fist, holding in his laugh while analyzing the scene. It was like watching children cry over spilled milk.

Before he broke into a fit of laughter, a hand waved in front of his trembling face.

"Yo, Sasuke! We just asked you a question," Shikamaru muttered angrily, causing his small eyes shrink smaller. "How did you and Momo meet?"

The answer was simple, yet Sasuke pressed his lips together as if he didn't want to say how or who brought them together. But in Sakura's eyes, her emerald shades knew the truth by a spite look sneering towards Momo's way.

Before he spoke, a disruptive sound of wet nose and fake whimpering approached the group as they all turned their heads to see the familiar brunette hugging her new collection of snacks.

"Sorry we took so long!" Arai waved at them beside her. "Had to replace the food that Akane dropped."

Reminding himself again, Sasuke recapped the moment when she lost her footing and he internally giggled to himself.

"Finally. Can we go change already?" Suigetsu complained as an agreeing nod came from Kiba.

After switching outfits, Sasuke waited outside of the building with Momo standing beside him, being the first ones to change before anybody else.

As being said, the blue eyed girl watched the raven from the corner of her eyes, peeking a glance at his solemn face while his onyx pools hooded in boredom.

Bewildered, Momo gripped her hand around his fingers tightly. "Sasuke, are you okay?" He turned his attention towards her and nodded thoughtlessly, then averting his gaze back to where he was staring at.

She was utterly baffled by Sasuke's dramatic attitude, causing herself to sink lower in worry and the air grew more uncomfortable. Until she heard him mutter something, her round eyes snapped open.
