Chapter 22: Indecisive

Several days turned into several weeks after Sasuke and Akane's departure. The only time they see each other is at school, having the same class is nothing they can do about it. But it's the moment that made everything a bit of a sanctuary for both of them.

It was a relief to have a few hours of sitting and charting here and there.

Other than school hours, Sasuke spends all his time with Momo as Akane tries to migrate into groups like Sakura's which it was kind of painful for her to do. Fitting into girly cliques isn't her style, so she tried to aim for her classmate next door, Naruto.

After school, Sasuke continued to take Akane's words and walked Momo home like he should be doing without complaint. It scored him a lot of points.

It was unpleasant and boring for him take when he should be going to cafe like usual and treat the brunette her banana sundae, but at least he saw that Momo is content.

Dates tripled now that Sasuke has a load of free time other than homework and studying, but his almost all his money is wasted on needless gifts and expensive food when he eats out with Momo.

He wish he can stay at home, watch movies, and eat cheap fried chicken. With Momo, that was impossible.

So Sasuke's allowance went down the drain within the week, no savings or treat for himself. He spends it after his parents gives him money.

Other than dates, he stays at home, alone and annoyed. He's used of having Akane come intruding his room without permission, and purposely bugs the hell out of him for her own enjoyment.

Now it's almost quiet in the house, even his family asked him where she could've gone. Mikoto missed baking sweet delicacies for her, knowing no one in the house eats sweets other than her. As for Itachi, he missed seeing her annoy his little brother while he plays along.

It almost felt like they weren't even friends to begin with.

Until Akane accidentally spotted Sasuke from a far during lunch, lining up with Momo at the cafeteria. The blonde beside her couldn't stop whining about his ramen all soggy, so she turned her head to glance at her old best friend.

Then she noticed how the unhappy expression displayed on his face which it almost didn't surprise her. But she saw how Momo is oblivious to Sasuke's facade and his fake smiles. It shocked her to see her best friend this way, saddening her.

But that's not any of her business.

"You're having a show?" the raven asked while sliding his tray over the steel bar. Momo nodded with a smile.

"One of my art works will be on display and I have present it in front people who are going to attend," she explained, grabbing an orange juice box from counter.

Sasuke pulled another one of his smiles and continued down the aisle. "Sounds great. I hope you do well."

"Actually, I was thinking of inviting you, too!" A blush colored her cheeks joyfully, earning a wondrous stare from him. "It would be nice if you come and watch me for support. This is pretty important to me that my name is recognized by artists around town."
