Chapter 21: For Momo

Why am I doing this...?

Sasuke stood outside of his girlfriend's house with a bouquet of pink striped tiger lilies in his hand. Brushing his bangs with his hand, he deeply sighed at the idea he's about to pull.

Oh yeah... To apologize for something I have no clue about.

Straightening his posture, Sasuke entered through the white picket fence and knocked on the door with a subtle pace. Gripping the bouquet in his hands, he heard the front door unlocking, revealing an older man that has similar traits to Momo.

"Who are you?" the man questioned.

Sasuke cleared his throat. "My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I'm Momo's friend from school. Is she in?" The man eyed down at the raven suspiciously with an uneven eye. Then he finally realized him.

"Oh yeah! The guy who keeps hanging around with my daughter," he comprehended before turning his back to him. "I'll go call her down."

After a few moments of waiting by the front porch impatiently, Sasuke took this time wisely and thought about how he's going to pull this one through. Never has he ever apologized to anybody, except if it's his parents scolding him about his grades.

Eventually, his charcoal eyes found sparking blue ones meeting him at her front step. Momo approached him fearfully, hearing the bouquet of flowers crinkling in his hand.

"Uh, for you," he muttered while lending the plastic wrapped bunch. She accepts it with a slight hesitance. "Look, the other day... I'm sorry. For whatever I did to upset you."

Momo stared down at the lilies unsurely and glanced back up at him in wonder. "I know, I'm not being the best boyfriend right now, but I'm trying. I'm a bit stumped about how to keep you happy. But this time, I will be extra careful and I will do whatever I can to make it up to you."

Lowering her azure eyes, Sasuke saw her clinging onto the flowers he bought her in her arms and tried to hid her shy face behind it. She looked a bit sad, but confused. Instead, Momo mumbled under her breath only for him to hear.

"No, I think I should be the one apologizing..."

The raven couldn't believe his ears. Is she finally taking the blame?

"You weren't aware  of it, but I shouldn't have yelled at you like that. I should've approached you differently to prevent that from happening. So... I'm sorry for lashing out on you. You must have been... surprised to see that side of me."

Then suddenly, Sasuke was squeezed by a pair of arms surrounding his chest. Momo hugged him dearly and continued to finish. "I guess I was just... jealous. I was so frustrated to see how different you act when you're around Akane-chan."

So she was right. Akane's assumptions met expectations and here is Momo, confessing her thoughts to him.

"She's my best friend," Sasuke added, but he felt Momo gripped harder.

"I know. But sometimes I wish you would act like that with me." He knew this would come to this, but there's nothing that he can do to improve that.

"Momo." She looked up. "It takes time for me to open up, you know. With Akane, I've been with her since we were kids, so of course I'm going to act differently with her than anybody else." Her orbs shook as a saddening visage stretched on her face.

"But, I will try to do the same with you," then he managed to pull a faint smile on his lips. It wasn't real, or didn't hold any emotion or meaning, but it was there for Momo to gawk at. "...okay?"
