Alexandria caught a flight from Virginia to Maine. Being only a two hour flight, it didn't take long till she was in a taxi driving to Camden, the town where Eleanor and Lukas had moved to.
Driving through the town, she noticed one thing that was different from Mystic Falls. Camden had more of a town setting to it rather than a suburban one. The town had maintained its nineteenth-century architecture with buildings which resembled those of classic Federal and Italianate-style townhouses. The drive was relaxing and Alexandria found it nice seeing how colourfully decorated buildings still maintained the old architecture.
Alexandria found that Eleanor's house was quaint. It wasn't small, but it wasn't necessarily large either. Built from dark brick and wood, she could tell that the house had no doubt been built a while ago and had been renovated throughout the years to keep up with the times. The house wasn't too far from the town and had a fair amount of land that separated it from neighbouring houses.
Getting out of the taxi, she lugged her backpack and suitcase up the porch steps and knocked on the wooden door. Shuffling was heard from inside the house and the door soon opened to reveal Eleanor in casual clothing with her shoulder-length brown hair tied in a low ponytail.
"Oh, Alex!" Eleanor greeted with a smile as she brought Alexandria in for a hug which she didn't hesitate to return. "It's so good to see you."
Alexandria laughed lightly. "It's good to see you too."
"Come in, come in," Eleanor beamed as she pulled away from her niece, moving out of the doorway to let Alexandria in. "I set up the guest room for you upstairs."
Coming into the home, she felt a sense of warmth. The rustic interior design definitely seemed more of her aunt's style rather than the modern-styled home she had gotten in Mystic Falls in Alexandria's opinion. The exposed wooden supports and roofing, a large open living area that had a fireplace, made from brick that stretched up to the ceiling. Connected to the country-styled kitchen which welcomed the sunlight from the large windows.
Going up the stairs, Alexandria dropped her bags off in the guest room. It was small, but perfect for Alexandria. The walls were decorated with a few art pieces, just to fill up the empty space. A window wall that gave her a beautiful view of the port and ocean. She could see several boats docked and leaving. She could even see part of the town. It was no wonder that Eleanor wanted to come back to Maine.
Walking downstairs, she found Eleanor in the kitchen. She sat at the kitchen island and watched the TV from her spot. Eleanor switched off the stove and turned around to her niece. Leaning on the counter she said, "So, tell me. How's school been? Exams weren't too bad?"
Alexandria leant her elbows on the counter with a tight lipped smile. "School's been hectic. But my exams weren't too bad. Was the move alright?"
"It was good. Wasn't too much of a hassle. It's good to be home," Eleanor answered the girl.
