"Dr. Saltzman?"
Alaric raised his head to see Hope standing in the doorway of his office, restlessness spread over her face as her hand loosely held the handle. The man had just gotten off the phone with Caroline. A rather distressing conversation and he figured that the girl had overheard.
"Hope? What are you doing? You should be asleep," Alaric said with worry, adjusting his posture to sit up straighter in his seat as he discarded his phone in the drawer next to him.
Hope brushed off Alaric's question and asked one of her own, "What's going on with Alex?"
Spring break was about to end and Alexandria still hadn't returned to school. It had worried all her friends who hadn't heard anything from the girl since a couple of days after she had left. Josie tried to reassure Hope that the werewolf was probably just enjoying time with her family, but she only grew more paranoid. And it seemed that her mind wasn't playing tricks on her after all as she saw a hint of uneasiness behind her Headmaster's eyes.
Alaric clasped his hands together on his desk. "Nothing you need to worry about–"
"Dr. Saltzman," Hope said firmly and Alaric exhaled slowly, his gaze falling to his hands briefly before looking back up to the girl.
"I haven't heard anything from Alexandra or her aunt in almost a week, so I've asked Ms. Forbes to go check up on her," he explained to her and watched as a troubled expression appeared on her face. "Hope, please. Just leave this to me–"
Alaric tried to reason with the girl left, slamming his door before he could even finish.

Caroline arrived in Camden soon after and Alaric had filled her in on the situation. Eleanor had promised to check in with Alaric throughout Alexandria's trip, but he hadn't heard from the woman in days. It didn't raise any alarm at first, but after several unread texts and missed calls, he knew something was wrong.
After finding Eleanor's house, Caroline first noticed no car in the driveway. The second thing she noticed was that she heard no one in the house. It was quiet. Deathly quiet.
Getting out of her rental car, she moved towards the quaint house. As she walked up the porch steps, her eyes narrowed at the newspaper and junk mail sitting in front of the door. She twisted the doorknob forcefully, breaking the lock with ease. The vampire swung the door open, but she froze when her hand went through the doorway.
Caroline stared at her own hand with confusion, her mind racing with possibilities but eventually settling on a grim one. She put one foot past the doorway first and grew more troubled when she was able to step into the home without any form of invitation. It was her first time ever visiting Eleanor's home.
Caroline searched the home but found everything in order. There was no sign of anything that indicated where the family was. After doing a thorough search of the place and finding nothing, the vampire decided to move towards the town with no other leads. She hoped that she could get information out of the local townspeople.
