Ralph: I feel good today after a few days of rest. My fever is gone and I just have to put up with this cast for a whole month. My life and work goes on.

I am currently finishing breakfast which is not to my taste and here is Daryll by my side eating a cheeseburger. Not that I complain because I understand that hospital food really taste this way.

Sigh.

“My lord, is something wrong? Can I get you something?”

“I want what you’re eating too.”

He chuckles.

“Do you know when I will be discharged?”

“No, sir. I think Dr. Vandale will be dropping by here this morning.”

“I see…I hope I can get out today.”

“Sir, please don’t forget what the duke said—“

“Yeah, yeah… a lot of rest after I get discharged.” I finish his sentence. “Daryll, stop worrying much like them. I’ll be fine.”

 “…I’ll try, my lord.”

Sigh. I go back to my breakfast with a sour look on my face then finish it off fast just as someone starts knocking on my door.

“Good morning, Ralph!” Duke Vandale greets as he comes inside.

“I can’t believe the owner of the hospital himself comes to work this early.” I comment.

“Well, of course! I need to be a good example and because of this, we have the lowest rate of employee tardiness every year!”

“That’s impressive.”

“It sure is.” He says. “But enough about that let’s talk about you.”

“I actually feel great already. My fever’s gone. When can I be discharged?”

“Alright. Let me feel your pulse first.”

I offer him my wrist. He presses his fingers for a few seconds then starts smiling at me.

“…you can go now this afternoon after I sign your discharge papers.”

“Thank you very much, Dr. Vandale.” I tell him, relief spreading inside my chest.

“Nah, it’s okay. I missed taking care of the sick you.”

I smile at him. “But please don’t wish me to return here again.”

The doctor burst out laughing at my statement. He then starts saying his excuses and goes out of my room to visit his other patients.

“Congratulations, my lord.” Daryll says to me.

“Thanks. I can finally go home.” I say. “I told you that there’s nothing to be worried about. All of you are overreacting.”

“My lord, I’m sorry that you see it that way but we were all just very worried.”

Sigh. “I know.”
