Reena: Mariella hadn’t been attending class for the past few days. I visited her in her room and learned that she has flu. She told me to stay away from her so that I wouldn’t get it too.
So for the past week, it has only been me and Alexia together during meal times and free times and at night.
Everyday have been the same. I continued observing Kyle Rome whenever I see him. He is always surrounded by people now. To be more specific, a lot of people are drawn continuously to him.
One afternoon, I accompany Alexia to spend time in the library. I don’t see Anisse anywhere. This is supposed to be her favourite haven, right?
Alexia seats in the chair by the window right away while I go to the available table near her and set down my books and assignments on it. This is my time to catch up with the lessons. I sigh. I better get started.
Since it’s already the last day of classes for the week, I can relax and do something else but I decided to study instead. Our teachers gave us a lot of homework for this weekend and I still have training class tomorrow.
I start opening my book now in Geography and notice a note I made earlier that says: quiz on Monday. I look at the topic and see that it’s about the regions of Wistcoàstia. What the? But that’s ten of them! I need to read about each of them and memorize all the aspects. That’s...that’s too much for me. I’m bad in memorization!
I look at the pages that cover the topic and it seems to go on forever!
“Seriously?” I say in disbelief. I actually don’t know how to start.
I look at the pile next to me. I still have Math and History. Great. Oh I almost forgot about Science.
“How’s Mariella by the way?” Alexia asks, not lifting her head from the book she is reading.
“It seems that her flu got worse.” I answer. “She warned me to stay away...but I’m really worried.”
“I hate being sick...I really don’t like the feeling of it.” She says. “Did you get sick a lot before when you were a kid?”
“Nope. Not much.” I say honestly. “I always had a strong immune system so I rarely get sick, even it’s during the time of the year when the weather changes.”
“Really? Do you drink vitamins or something?” Alexia asks me eagerly, putting her book down.
“No...” I say. “I just eat three times a day and exercise regularly.”
“Seriously? You don’t take any food supplements at all?”
“Not really.” I say, but she still looks incredulous at my confession. She sighs. It looks like she’s going to let go of the topic already.
“Let’s visit Mariella.” She suggests.
“But—“
“I know what she said but...I know that she’s probably having a hard time right now. Let’s go visit her then.”
I look at Alexia and she really seems serious about this and not that I blame her...I am also worried for Mariella.
I give her a yes and she nods happily.
We finish all our to-dos and Alexia helps me with mine. We finish everything around six o’ clock, an hour before dinner. We stop at the small pantry in the lobby of the girl’s dormitory to get her something to eat and then go up to her room.
Mariella told me before that she’s sharing room with two other girls: one, in the same year like us while the second one is in the first year. Her roommates will not surely leave her without anything, right?
