Reena: My first class starts at 9 am and I planned to wake up at 6 am to jog but I forgot to set my alarm last night. *sigh* Oh well, I can just do it tomorrow. It’s no big deal. Anyway, when I got out of the bathroom, I saw that I still have an hour and a half free time so I went out of my room to get some breakfast.
The dormitories in Philanter Academy have anything that you can imagine and its rooms and services are like a hotel’s. I’m sharing a room with two other girls but I haven’t seen them yet but it doesn’t bother me at all. Back in Lidora, I haven’t made any friends that much because I was always busy and don’t have the leisure to go around the city.
I ride the elevator down while I ‘m staring at my reflection in the mirror inside. I look perfectly fine and I made sure that I dressed properly and that my clothes have no creases. Since the air is starting to get cold, we wear our winter uniforms—I’m wearing a light gray blazer then a black necktie over my long sleeved blouse with matching pleated black skirt that has a silver lining at the hem an inch just above my knee then black high socks.
I know that they will call me stubborn but I don’t care what they think. I’m still carrying my katanas on my back where they always belong. The handles are sticking out behind my right and left shoulder and the rest are covered by my long hair. I will show them what I’m capable of.
As I walk in the cafeteria, I could feel all eyes are on me but I didn’t falter and did not mind them. Later I could hear whispers around me while I stood in line to order some food.
“Who is she?”
“I bet she is a new student. Hasn’t she read the handbook yet?”
“She’s going to be in loads of trouble later when they find out about this.”
I perk up when I hear that. ‘They?’ Hmph. Are they talking about the student council? Whatever…I’m not scared of them.
I go and look for a vacant table then sit there. I try to ignore the people around me and start to examine the whole cafeteria. What can I say? Even the cafeteria is awesome. There are like more than a hundred round tables in here to accommodate all the students. From where I am sitting I can see that the other side of the cafeteria is made of glass that allows us to see outside. It is relaxing seeing the trees outside. They even put plants inside and when I looked up, I saw that the roof is also made of glass but the sunlight is not directly hitting us. It maybe because of what the glass roof is made of.
I hear footsteps coming towards me. I continue eating.
“Excuse me,” a man’s voice says behind me. “Can we talk to you for a moment?”
I turn around. “Yes?”
I notice that the whole cafeteria has gone quiet. The guy who talked to me is flanked by one boy and girl behind him. I also see that there is a badge pinned on their uniforms. Inscribed on it are the letters: D.C. Are they bullies, I wonder?
“Are you a new student?”
I nod.
“Being a new student, I’m sure that you already received an orientation from the principal about how things work in here. I may also add that you already have a copy of the school and regulations that is in the student handbook. Am I right?” the guy says.
“Yes…I’ve read every page of it.”
“Then I need to confiscate the weapons on your back. Hand them over.”
I remember what that Edward said yesterday. I stand while looking him directly in the eye then say, “I do not want to.”
There are murmurs everywhere. Some are in awe, irritated while others just watched us.
