Reena: Red everywhere…lots of blood pooling around dead bodies…the smell of death is so suffocating….

            Where are they?

            Father…?

            Mother?

            Big brothers..?

Lance? Help me! I’m all alone…I’m so scared…sob.

I can hear gunshots everywhere and shouting around me…

“Child, what are you doing here?” a woman asks me.

I step away from here, feeling scared.

“We must hurry away from here!” she says frantically. “We might be shot dead if we linger.”

I take a glance at the woman and see that her dress is covered with soot and blood stains. Her hair is a mess but her eyes are looking at me gently and are full of kindness. Sean told me that the eyes never lie.

The kind woman wipes my tears away and grasps my hand tightly then we start running. We reach the end of the street when suddenly—

BANG!

Her eyes widen in shock and falls to her knees clutching her side. I can only stare helplessly. I want to scream but my voice doesn’t come out.

“Child, y-you must g-go a-ahead…t-to the police s-station at the e-end of t-the c-cor-ner…” she says in a staggered manner, gasping for breath. “Y-you’ll be a-able to find h-help there…”

            I grasp her hand tightly.

“Don’t w-worr-y a-about m-me-e…” she says while I see blood oozing out from her wound.

            “B-But…” I stammer crying. “I’m s-sc-cared.”

The woman smiles at me then coughs up blood.

“Lady! Lady!” I exclaim, holding her arm.

“G-Go!” the woman says. “Go, child…go—“

A tip of a sword appears through her chest and blood splutters everywhere. The sight roots me to the spot; the woman’s blood staining my entire front. I look down at my hands full of blood and a scream comes out from deep inside me.

A man in military uniform stands behind the dead woman and looks at me with black eyes. He reaches something from his back then points a gun in my face.

A loud bang echoes in the air and the sound of a body falling to the ground…

I bolt upright, breathing hard and feel myself sweating hard. I grasp my throat. It aches and feels dry. It’s as if I really did shout…but it was just a dream…right? No. it was a nightmare. It wasn’t true. It wasn’t just a product of my imagination. My heart is beating fast like I’ve really been running.

I look down at myself and in my hands. No blood. Of course, don’t be ridiculous, Reena. I take deep breaths to calm myself and it helps a little.
