A hamster. They would get a hamster after it all ended. But that would only be after a long period of time. First they would have to get past numerous fights and save the World from damnation multiple times. They would hate each other at the beginning but fighting would gradually bring them closer. They would be forced to trust each other and would be alone against the whole world. Feelings changed quickly and once they realized what the other meant to them they would become even stronger. They would finally catch Omen and put his men behind bars. When all of this would be behind them, they would be able to live as normal adults and would leave their powers behind, finishing their studies in peace before getting married and living happily ever after.
"Ah!"
Camie couldn't hold back a scream as she pulled her hand away. She had moved so quickly that it looked as if she had just been burned. Seeing her react this way, Amaltheia frowned:
"Are you okay? I'm so sorry. Did I hurt you?
-Bye!"
Camie didn't know what else to say and just screamed again before running away. Hearing someone scream two times made people stare at her and Camie didn't stop running until she was far enough to hide from the students. She then grabbed a tree before bending forward and trying to calm her breathing down.
"What just happened?"
Camie remembered the images she had just seen. How could she forget them? In her head she had been gone for days but it all had happened only in a matter of milliseconds. As soon as she bumped into Amaltheia she saw months worth of pictures and she got so scared that she ran away. She didn't get powers at birth so she didn't think that anything weird would ever happen to her. She had been disappointed for a long period but by now she had moved on. So what was this? What did she see? Did she get powers only now? Did she just hallucinate because of the lack of sleep? Did she just daydream very hard?
Camie thought back to the puzzled face Amaltheia had made. This was so awkward! She had never seen that girl before and their first interaction was Camie bumping into her and then screaming before running away. How could she just scream and run? Why couldn't she just smile and walk away? She should have played it off cool and pretended nothing happened. Usually Camie was very good at pretending such things but she had just been taken by surprise. We had to give it to her: it was her first time in 22 years that she witnessed magic from so close.
Camie hit her head against the tree:
"Stupid. Stupid. Stupid."
She didn't know Amaltheia at all and shouldn't have cared what she thought. But after everything she just saw... Camie felt like she knew her and she really cared about her. She couldn't have Amaltheia remember her as the weird girl who screamed at her out of nowhere.
"It's too late now."
Camie forced herself to forget about it. It was all in the past. Never think more than 5 minutes about something that won't affect you in 5 years. Camie had spent the last 5 minutes dying of shame and now she had to move on. She looked at her phone and grimaced. She was late. She didn't want to go back to class and thought that she would sit down under that tree and stay there for the whole day. She really liked immunology but she couldn't get herself to go. She hated being late. Might as well not go.
Camie took out one of the books in her bag (after long minutes of deliberation) and sat down in the grass. She wanted to read but the next second the pictures in her head gave space to what had just happened with Amaltheia and Camie covered her face with her hands, ashamed.
"Second hand embarrassment from your book?"
Camie screamed again, surprised by the sudden voice. Fortunately it was only her friend Emma. The latter was a rather small girl with strawberry blond hair. When she stayed under the sun for too long, freckles would appear on her cheeks and her eyes would turn green. Seeing the familiar face, Camie wined:
"Emma!
-Wow. What's wrong? What happened in the book?
-It's not the book...
-Oh... What did you do?
-I didn't do anything, I..."
Camie wanted to tell Emma about everything that had happened. She wanted to tell her about what she saw the second she touched Amaltheia's hand and how she screamed before running away but no sounds came out of her mouth. Surprised, Camie frowned. What was this? Why couldn't she talk suddenly?
"Yes? asked Emma who was starting to get worried. Are you okay? You are quite pale.
-I..."
I saw something. Why couldn't she say it?
"I...
-You?"
Frustrated, Camie raised her hand to throw her book but at the last second she remembered that she hated her books getting dirty so she just sighed:
"I can't tell you.
-Okay... But are you okay?
-I don't know. Something weird happened. But I can't talk about it.
-I understand. If you ever need someone to talk to I am always here.
-You don't understand. I literally can't tell you.
-That's okay. I won't force you."
Camie grunted:
"No!"
Emma frowned:
"Rough day?"
Camie didn't have time to answer because the next second they heard the alarm. They heard it so much that everyone knew what was going on within a millisecond. Hearing the high-pitched sound, Emma jumped on her feet and extended her hand towards Camie with a worried face:
"They are attacking. Let's go!"
Camie was ready to jump up to but she suddenly got an idea. If what she had seen was true, if she really had seen the future, then Amaltheia was none other than Black Gold. What if Camie really saw the future? What if she really had powers? She had to check. Was Amaltheia really Black Gold? Camie ignored her friend's hand and ran away towards the sound. Seeing her friend do so, Emma immediately screamed:
"What are you doing? Come back here! It's dangerous! We should get somewhere safe!"
Seeing that her friend was running after her made Camie stop:
"Why are you running?
-Why are you running?
-Stop following me! Go hide!
-Not without you! Where are you going?
-I have to check something!
-No you won't! You are coming with me!"
Emma grabbed Camie's hand and tried pulling her towards a shelter.
"Let me go! I have to see if it's true!
-Are you having a stroke? What the hell are you talking about?"
Once again Cammie couldn't answer because of an exterior force. At the same time they heard an explosion far too close to them and Camie could even see the light of the fire on her friend's face for a few seconds before it went away.
"I'm sorry, Emma. But please trust me.
-Do you have a death wish? Not happening. You are coming."
Camie bit her lower lip looking back and forth between Emma and the sounds of the fight.
"I have to see."
She finally managed to get away from her friend and ran away as fast as she could. Camie still heard Emma scream her name a few times before she was too far to hear her voice anymore. Camie reached the battle rather quickly and regretted coming as soon as she found herself in the middle of remains. What was she doing here? All of this just to check a vision? Who cared if Amaltheia was Black Gold in the end? It wouldn't mean a lot to know her identity if Camie died here. She was a hero and Camie had no powers whatsoever (except for maybe seeing Amaltheia's future). She had to leave quickly. But just as she was turning away, Camie heard an order being screamed:
"Phoenix! Now!"
