Camie could see Black Gold's eyes shining through the mask. It only took her a few seconds to answer but for Camie those seconds felt like hours. While she was waiting for Théa to answer, she started thinking about what she would do if she said no. She couldn't let her leave. Not yet. Should she pretend that she had a seizure? Should she jump off the roof? She would if she had to. Camie tried guessing how high they were. That morning she looked up how high the clouds were and she tried guessing how far she was from them. But knowing how high the clouds were wasn't enough if you couldn't guess distances with your eyes only and Camie had to give up.

All she knew was that she was very high. Would she die if she fell from there? Of course she would. She would flatten out like a pancake. But she knew that Back Gold wouldn't let her die anyway. If she were to jump, the latter would save her in the second. She wouldn't even have time to realize that she was falling, that her feet would already be back on the ground. Moreover if she did jump off the roof, Black Gold wouldn't leave her alone. She would have to make sure that she was okay and that she wouldn't try to harm herself.

Camie shouldn't worry Black Gold too much either because then she could force her to go see a professional and the latter would immediately notice that she was lying. But maybe she could explain everything to the doctor and maybe the latter would help her with her lie. That was it. Should she go for it? Camie was ready to run to the edge but Black Gold was quicker:

"Okay."

Camie froze. Did she hear her right? That was... Easier than she would have thought and she had no idea how to react for a second. Seeing her like that made Black Gold laugh:

"Weren't you the one who asked me to stay? Did you already change your mind?

-No, I just... I didn't expect you to say yes.

-How could I refuse something you asked?"

Black Gold bent closer to Camie and looked her straight in the eyes. She was staring at her for so long that Camie had no idea how to act, her heart beating a bit weird:

"Thank you..."

Black Gold walked closer to the edge and sat down before tapping the place next to her:

"Would you want to sit down next to me for a bit?"

Camie started walking towards Black Gold, not looking away for a second. For some reason she didn't realize that she had been talking to Black Gold until then. She had been too focused on keeping Théa away from the attack to fully grasp that Théa was also Black Gold. But now that she was starting to calm down, she started getting nervous for a whole other reason.

She was alone with Black Gold. She was alone with the biggest hero of all time. She was alone with that gorgeous and almighty and powerful and generous and... Camie forced herself to calm down. It wasn't the first time that she had been alone with Black Gold. Why was it different now? She should continue acting around her as if she was a normal human being. But she never acted normally around Théa. She was always admiring her and she always felt shy and had no idea what to say. Wait a second, had she been acting weird since the beginning?

Camie suddenly thought back to their first meeting. She had crashed into Théa, screamed and ran away. And their following meetings hadn't been better. Camie felt her cheeks heating up. She wanted to run away.

"Are you afraid of heights by any chance?"

Camie suddenly came back to Earth and she forced herself to focus. The most important thing at the moment was to divert her attention.

"No, no."

Camie continued looking at Black Gold as she sat down next to her. Théa was just too radiant to look away. But just as Camie turned to look at the view, she realized something and froze. She grabbed Black Gold's arm with all her strength and pulled it very close to her chest. She grabbed her so suddenly that Black Gold jumped:

"Ca- Are you okay?"

Camie didn't hear the question the first time:

"What's wrong?

-Nevermind. I just realized that I really am terrified of heights.

-Oh, I am so sorry. I will get you down immediately."

Black Gold tried pulling her arm out to get up but Camie held her even closer:

"Stop!"

Black Gold got so surprised that she immediately stopped moving. She didn't even dare breathe at that point, waiting for Camie to give her permission.

"Don't move.

-But if you are scared, shouldn't we get down?"

Black Gold was completely lost.

"Yes. But no. I want to get down but I can't move. And you can't move. If we move we are going to fall and we are going to die. If you make me fall I'm going to kill you. I swear.

-Excuse me for a second."

Camie suddenly felt Black Gold touch her chin and she forced her to look away from the view and look at her instead. Camie flinched at first, surprised by the sudden touch but seeing Black Gold's shining green eyes did divert her attention immediately. She even forgot where she was for a second. Was every hero's gaze so intense?

"Focus on me. Only on me. It is going to be okay. I would never let you fall. Okay?"

Camie quickly nodded:

"Okay...

-Can you get up?

-No.

-Do you give me permission to use my powers to help you get up?"

Camie thought about it for a second before nodding.

"Yes.

-Are you sure?

-Yes, I trust you."

Black Gold's eyes started shining for some reason but she didn't waste any more time and gently surrounded Camie's body of black smoke. Camie didn't have time to get used to the warm feeling that the next second she got lifted and pulled far away from the edge. Camie didn't let go of Black Gold's arm for a second, seeing the terrifying view getting further and further away.

"Is this better?"

Camie finally relaxed and she sighed heavily:

"Yes. Thank you so much. I thought I would die.

-I'm glad you're okay. I am sorry that I brought you here."

Camie quickly shook her head:

"Don't apologize! You saved me back there. I should be thanking you. Thank you so much."

Black Gold bent closer:

"I would always be there for you."

Camie didn't get where this was going and she pulled back with a frown:

"Okay... Thank you."

Feeling that Camie was uncomfortable, Black Gold suddenly added:

"That's what heroes are for right?"

This didn't please Camie and she quickly shook her head:

"Don't say that! You may have powers and be strong but that doesn't mean you have to be there for everyone all the time. You will lose yourself in the process otherwise.

-I...

-No. You don't understand. You don't have to save everyone. That won't bring meaning to your life. You being you is more than enough. If you can't help someone then it's okay. Someone else will help them or they could even help themselves. Sometimes we need to get out of situations on our own to learn. And..."

Camie suddenly realized that she had been rambling and forced her mouth shut. Why did she have to talk so much? She should just stop. Seeing her internal monologue, Black Gold laughed:

"I understand. Thank you, I will think about it a lot.

-Hum.. You're welcome."
