Plot: Kris and Berdly get paired together for a school project, but will they actually manage to get anything done?

The school day was coming to a close much to the kid's enjoyment, but there was one last thing Alphys had planned for them before the bell rang. A new project was announced, causing everyone in the room to groan aside from Berdly and Noelle. Noelle was just trying to be nice and Berdly was determined to let everyone know that his project would be the best one. However, before he could get a word in to Noelle about partnering up, Susie walked over with a wave of intimidation following her.

"Hey Noelle, wanna be partners?" She asked, causing Noelle to blush a bit.

"Aren't you normally partners with Kris?" Noelle asked, not wanting to mess up whatever dynamic they had going on.

"They already said it was fine," Susie responded with a small blush on her cheeks, "so do you wanna work with me or not?"

Noelle nodded and immediately packed up her stuff, the two of them walking out the door after Kris gave Susie a thumbs up. It seemed that everyone already had a partner and left to either go home or start working, which left only three people left in the classroom: Alphys, Berdly, and Kris. The two kids walked out to meet up with Toriel before leaving.

Toriel let Kris know that she was going home if they didn't have any other plans, but they simply told her that they were gonna work on the project with Berdly. The blue bird smiled a little and blushed, leaving the classroom after Kris and exiting the building. 

The two of them began to talk down the street in silence for a moment before Berdly said anything.

"So, would you like to go to the library to work? Nobody ever really goes there so it would be the perfect place! Besides, Noelle and I go there to study all the time," Berdly said.

Kris nodded, "yeah, the sooner we get this over with the better."

Berdly put a wing to his heart, shocked, "do you not wish to work with me, Kris? I'm hurt by your words!"

Kris laughed and lightly punched the bird boy in the shoulder, "you know what I meant. I can't focus on projects for too long."

They walked in silence after that until they arrived at the library, walking into the computer room to work. It was quiet, as nobody was around. Kris shut the door behind them and sat next to Berdly at one of the empty tables, allowing the two of them to go over the details of the project and their roles within the project. Shortly after, they got to work.

Kris did the research and began to write a paragraph about a certain part of the topic, but they weren't the best at it. Luckily Berdly was there to proofread anything they wrote. Berdly's main job was to put the project together and make it look neat while also giving Kris the websites to look over. 

Once Kris was done with the paragraphs they were supposed to write, they gave the paper to Berdly took look over, but instead of giving pointers he just slowly fell out of his chair and onto the floor. 

"it's so bad I don't think I can make it," Berdly said dramatically, causing Kris to laugh a bit and face the bird who was now on the floor pretending to die.

"Berdly, get off the floor, it's not THAT bad," Kris said, lightly kicking the bird's leg.

"No, I can't go on. Only a powerful kiss from a gorgeous theymer can save me," Berdly said, looking at Kris and winking. 

Kris blushed a bit and rolled their eyes, "you're so stupid." But the comment didn't stop them from getting down onto the floor and kissing Berdly's forehead. "Happy now?"

"No, but it will suffice," Berdly said, getting up off of the floor and back into the chair, yet Kris stayed seated on the floor thinking about what Berdly had said. "Kris? Are you okay?"

They looked back at the bird with a light pink tint still present on their cheeks, "You...really think I'm gorgeous?" 

Berdly looked at them with a shocked expression, gently pulling them off of the floor, "of course I do! And you're not just gorgeous but also smart and funny and have a unique personality that nobody can match! Everything about you is stunning!" 

By the time he finished speaking, his face turned a bright shade of red at his own words. Had he really just said all of that?! Kris must think that he's weird! Had he just ruined everything?! 

But Kris looked at him and smiled, kissing the bird's forehead once more, "Thanks bird brain."

The two sat back down, completely flustered and unable to work. Well...it was mostly Berdly who was flustered, Kris was just happy that they were successful and didn't have to do any work now. However, Berdly wasn't completely stupid and caught on to what Kris had done fairly quickly. 

"This was all some plot so you didn't have to work, wasn't it?!" Berdly said, his face still red.

Kris chuckled, "maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Either way it worked."

Berdly crossed his wings and looked away from them, "you're awful. Still, I must admit that it was a good plan and well executed. But if you wish to continue working then I suggest that we get back to it. We will run out of time."

"Awe c'mon birdy, don't you wanna hang out some more? If we finish it all today, then where's our excuse for coming back?" 

"Weren't you the one that said- ugh, never mind. I suppose you're right."

And that's exactly what happened, the two didn't finish the project. Instead, they packed up and left, Kris offering to walk the bird home, and he gladly accepted.

"Was my work really that bad?" Kris asked as they walked.

"Yes, throw it away immediately."
