Jesse’s Perspective

The floor might as well have opened up and swallow me.

I was in a state of shock. I could feel myself losing grip. Rebecca was never going to accept this. I never wanted this for her. I was ruining her life.

“Alpha? Are you alright?” The doctor asked. “You haven’t said a word for a long time.” He stated.

I could hear him, but he sounded far away. I could see Tiffany crying, but my emotions were totally shut off. Logically, I had to say something. I am not an ass. I tried to hold myself together, and stay political.

“I will never hurt you. I am sorry this is happening. If you keep the baby, I will take responsibility if there is a positive paternity test. Please let me be the one to tell Rebecca. I need to figure out a way where this won’t hurt her. I would like everyone involved to remain civil and kind throughout this process. I know it could potentially turn ugly. I will do everything in my power to ensure that doesn’t happen.” I spoke clearly and softly.

“Dr. Philips, can you double check the test results just so I am sure before telling Rebecca?” I asked politely.

“Yes sir. Of course.” He replied.

“When can a paternity test be done?” I asked.

“The eighth week is the earliest.” He stated.

“Do you mind if we get an ultrasound now to confirm the pregnancy and determine the age?” I asked Tiffany.

“I consent to an ultrasound. I would like to know too.” She replied.

“I will call for the tech.” The doctor stated.

Please don’t leave me alone. It is a liability issue. I warned the doctor.

I will send in a nurse immediately. He promised.

The doctor stepped out and a nurse stepped in seamlessly.

A few minutes later an ultrasound tech walked in with the machine. She applied the lubrication and moved the wand along Tiffany’s belly.

“Oh there it is…” She stated

My hopes diminished.

“It is… five weeks gestation. Singleton.” She reported.

My hope returned. Fang usually made multiples maybe it belongs to someone else.

The technician left.

“What are you thinking?” I asked.

“I am overwhelmed. I don’t know what to think.” She replied.

“That’s reasonable.” I replied. “Do you want kids?” I asked.

“I never even considered them. I am only 19. I thought I would find the right man first. I guess that won’t happen now.” She started to cry.

“Why not? When I began dating Rebecca, I wanted to be with her forever, and her mate found her and kidnapped her. When I got her back she was broken from his sadistic abuse, but we rebuilt. Life doesn’t always go as planned, but you have to have hope it will work out." I tried to encourage her. "I promise nothing abusive or cruel will happen to you as a result of this. At least not from me and my family.” I looked at her calmly as I spoke.

“I will consider my options for the next three weeks. We will do the paternity test at eight weeks and talk again. Does that sound reasonable?” She asked.

“Perfectly reasonable. If you need anything let me know. Remember, I know you are going through a lot of traumatic emotions. I am not your enemy. I won’t hurt you. I will try to be reasonable. You are safe here.” I promised. “I will see you again in three weeks if not sooner.” I stood up to leave.

“Jesse?” I looked at her.

“Thank you for being so kind to me. Rebecca is lucky to have you. I don’t want to cause trouble in your life.” She was near tears. “I really like and respect you. I don’t want to make you upset with me…”

“We didn’t ask for this. We are not to blame. We had guns to our heads. We will take this one day at a time. Sound good?” I asked.

Tiffany nodded.

“Please schedule some time with your therapist. It will really help to talk this out with them.” I advised.

“My therapist is Luna Rebecca. I asked for her specifically. I can’t talk about this with her!” She exclaimed.

“I will get you a second therapist and you can choose if you want to continue with Rebecca or not. She will understand if you don’t. She will remain professional if you do. Above all, she is professional. She won’t hurt you.” Jesse promised.

“OK. I will trust you Jesse.” She sniffled.

“I promise you are safe here. We will work it out. I only ask that you let me tell Rebecca myself.” I restated my request.

“I won’t tell her.” Tiffany promised.

“Thank you. Let me know if you need anything.” I left the room.

Tonight is going to suck.
