Chapter 24

I woke up to Jesse trying to get out from under me. I looked around confused.

Is something wrong? I asked.

I really have to pee. Jesse confessed, and you are clinging to me like I am going to run away.

Jesse kissed my head. I will be right back. I promise. I will hold you as long as you want love. I just really have to pee. He assured me. I could feel his concern.

Jesse was back in a few minutes, and he laid back down, pulling me back onto his chest. He soothed me with his finger tips and I felt myself relax. I was back to sleep in minutes.

About an hour later I woke up feeling better. I was still in his arms and he was watching me sleep.

Aren't you bored? I asked.

Not at all. You have been working too hard. He accused.

What have I missed in two weeks? He asked.

I am neck deep in negotiating an alliance with a shifter colony in Vancouver and adding them to the charter. Vampires are on their way supposedly two weeks from now. We have been upgrading battle training and security in preparation. Officer Matthews is trying to locate the coven that is about to attack to try negotiation first. Keith has installed a badge system between major sections of the main facility monitored by live security officers posted in an observation office. The cameras are inferred spectrum, because all supernatural creatures have different body temperatures so if the badge doesn't align with the body temperature the access is automatically denied to pass between sections. Three tries and the card is disabled. The lock down protocol also requires security clearance for each card swipe by an officer on post. Do not mention the inferred scanners ever. They are top secret. I explained.

Impressive. My lips are sealed. Jesse kissed my forehead.

I also relocated a family of one of Tony's men before Rapscalian could kill them. I have been checking in on how they are adapting. They are human and relocated to a recluse werewolf pack that is difficult to locate. They are thriving and have been made to feel welcome. I continued. Now, Oliver, Tony's man, has sworn to gather any information I ask of him now that his family is safe. We know the prison is compromised, but it is being monitored, because we are using it as a means to gather intel and spread false information. I explained.

Rebecca, you are truly an incredible Luna. Jesse smiled encouraging me. I am sorry I left you alone to shoulder this all by yourself. I can see it is wearing on you. The way you were clinging to me, you needed me and I wasn't there. I am truly sorry love.

You needed the time to sort things out. It is better to take the time and heal correctly than rush the process and suffer the consequences of losing control when it really counts. You picked a good time. Nothing is happening yet. I let Jesse off the hook even though the last two weeks were excruciatingly painful.

Don't protect me. I know the pain was worse than you are letting on. You cried in your sleep. I am here. I won't leave again. I am here. He smoothed my hair and kissed my forehead.

I responded by snuggling into his arms and clinging to his chest. I just needed to let myself be weak for a few more minutes.

Samantha? I called to my wolf.

Yes. She answered.

Is shifting while this pregnant dangerous for the pups? I asked.

Not as long as you don't over do it. You can over exert yourself. The uterus remains unchanged. Technically, all your internal organs remain unchanged when you shift. The outside appearance and bones change. Secondary sexual characteristics become wolf like, but the food you ate and are digesting, the function of your organs, and your uterus will all stay the same. Just don't run too fast, or use too much power. You are still pregnant and need to rest your body. She advised.
