Rebecca’s Perspective

The funeral for our fallen troops took place at sunrise, and it was a sad but beautiful service.

We were able to broker a peace treaty with the local shifter population before the end of the day. We released the widows and orphans to their care as a good will gesture in the spirit of continued steps towards peace. In trade they agreed to alert us to any encroaching intruders of any species. They have lived in our woods for nearly half a century and would keep watch over it.

The intelligence we gave the vampires was accurate and they were hidden when the Lycans came to do battle. No lives were lost and our friendship with the coven strengthened. As a good will gesture for potential membership to the charter, our lycan allies set traps for the invaders capturing quite a few for interrogation. It was discovered they were told lies. Upon correction, the Lycan leader called to ask for more information about joining the charter. Jesse referred him to Officer Matthews, who welcomed the Lycans to our side.

More family members from the Vancouver Shifter community arrived to support the traumatized girls in our care, and we welcomed and received them warmly.

Jesse continued to shoulder a large portion of my daily work load allowing me to rest more. I was still ending the day exhausted and sore, but he took care of me. He really stepped up, and he was there for me. My love for him deepened.

I especially loved “reconnecting” at night after my belly was full, my knotted muscles were relaxed, and I was alone with him. I never could get enough of Jesse.

With Jesse’s contributions we were able to start shortening our work hours allowing for more rest and family time. It helped me feel balanced and made me happy to spend my time more equally between work and home.

I found that my life was feeling full and happy now that Jesse was feeling more like himself. I just hoped we could continue like this without any relapses.

Lindsey also had some exciting news to share: she found her mate. He owns a local bakery, loves children, and keeps a tight schedule Monday through Friday running his business. Bakers keep weird hours of late nights, early mornings, and strange sleep schedules, so they negotiated for Lindsey to maintain her current living situation and occupation Monday through Friday. Then she would live with him on the weekends. If we needed childcare during that time, we could use the pack daycare.

We were all so happy for her. She deserved a partner in this life. Sometimes he would drop by early in the morning, after baking all night, with a box of fresh pastries for everyone to see Lindsey before heading to bed. He is truly a sweet man.

By the time Friday came, I was exhausted. After the pack dinner, Jesse took care of me. He carried me inside, used the hot tub to help him as he massaged and relieve all my knots and achy muscles. Then he carried me inside, and he dressed me into my most comfortable clothes and laid me down in the bed.

I could feel his arousal over our bond, but he could also feel my exhaustion. I made a mental note to satisfy him in the morning, after I was able to rest. I just couldn’t keep my eyes open.

As soon as I snuggled into his arms  I was fast asleep.
