arriving at the girl's place almost twenty minutes later then what he told her, jonah quietly snuck down the side of the house to the back and let himself into her bedroom, exchanging a small smile and greeting with penelope.
"sorry for kissing ruby," he apologised, taking a seat on her bed. "i didn't mean for you to see that.."
"why did you even kiss her..?"
"how do i say this.." he slightly mumbled. "okay um don't be mad but i agreed to do my friends stupid bets.."
"so you're playing me-"
"no, absolutely not, i actually do like you" joanh quickly defend himself. "if i play all the cards correctly and you're okay to play along.. i can get a hundred bucks off of them. and i'll use all that money to take you on a date, promise."
"what's the bet?"
"okay so, jack's gonna give me twenty if we do a bunch of shit, like sneaking out, staying out all night and skipping class and shit.. which i thinks gonna be easy money since they all don't know that you're not a goody two shoes," he chuckled slightly as he watched her blush. "we got till christmas to get all his shit done, so like three months."
"then we can get another i think thirty dollas from zach if i don't fall in love with you," he continued. "and then another fifty from them if i can pull off the two girlfriends bet which i failed at last year but i know you'll be able to help me cause you don't go around talking, you just can't mention that you know about it to anyone."
"so you want me to agree to getting played?" she furrowed.
"not necessarily, so the bet is that i have two girlfriends for a month, one that's public and one that's secret," he explained. "so since ruby's all out there, i'll publicly date her, everyone will believe that her and i are dating then you can be my lowkey girlfriend. she's the one being played, okay?"
"okay.." penelope softly nodded.
"then once i have all my money, i'll break up with her and i'll take you on the best date you've ever been on."
"i've never been on a date so it's not hard.."
"well, guess i'll be setting the bar high for everyone else," he shrugged.
"..yeah," she awkwardly nodded.
"so what was more important than watching me play huh?" he changed the subject.
"i was just watching a movie, doing a face mask, eating some chocolate.." she slightly mumbled.
"that was more important than me?" he gasped.
"yea," she softly giggled. "it's better than staying there and sorrowing over you kissing ruby in front of everyone.."
"did me doing that actually upset you?"
"i like you jonah," she admitted. "and it sucks seeing you not only kiss ruby, but having my friends see that after i had just defended you when they were saying about you and ruby being touchy in the hallways because you told me she meant nothing and i believed that. i would've preferred that you were honest with me from the start.."
"i'll be honest with you from now," he replied.
"okay," she nodded once again. "but just know i meant it earlier when i said that this is the last chance i'm giving you.. i love love, and i don't want this mess that just surrounds you, i hate it."
"i won't hurt you anymore, promise."
"mh.."
"so what's this movie that's more important than me?" he raised a brow.
"you won't understand," she softly shook her head.
"let me understand then, i wanna watch it with you," he smiled as he looked into her eyes.
"don't you have a party to go to, captain?"
"we lost," he laughed. "we shouldn't even be having a party tonight."
"go to the party.."
"i wanna stay with you," he shook his head.
"go to the party," she repeated.
"penny," he folded his arms as he continued to stare at her.
"you're the caption, shouldn't you be there?"
"i'll just say i got distracted," he shrugged. "the boys know i was making a stop on the way. plus there's a party on tomorrow as well so i'm not missing out on much."

she watched him get up to kick off his shoes, then moving to the head of the bed and sitting down beside her, slipping his legs under the comforter, putting his arm around her as she set turned her tv on.
"okay so it's called never been kissed, just a little warning, the movie was made in the nineties so the whole plot's kinda weird when you don't know the ending but nothing that happens in it's like illegal so just put any questions you have aside."
"alright," he chuckled, placing his other hand on her cheek gently turning her head to look at him and kissing her lips, a smile very obvious on her face. "sounds interesting," he rested his head against her's as she rewinded to the start and pressed play.
