"penelope," cecilia softly knocked on her daughter's bedroom door, receiving a small hum from the girl before letting herself in. shutting the door again, then wandering over and taking a seat on the edge of the bed. "do you want to explain why you were drunk at school and why you quote unquote, had an outburst..?"
"you're going to be mad at me.." she mumbled into her pillow as she stayed laying in the comfort of her bed.
"i don't think i can get anymore mad than what i was after hearing my golden child had been suspended... penny, you have your chance now to be honest with me and help me understand why this happened.."
"can you not tell dad?" she softly asked, partly glanced over at her mother.
"i won't tell him everything if you don't want him to know," she agreed with a small nod.
"i've been seeing this boy.." penelope mentioned as she sat up, still avoiding eye contact while she watched herself fiddle with her fingers. "he's apart of the football team.."
"and.. i know i shouldn't have been with him because he's not the best and he had an on-going bet with his friends so he wasn't the most honest with.. another girl.. while he's been with me.. but i really thought he liked me.. and the last month he been sweet towards me.."
"so where does getting drunk and arguing fall into this?" cecilia slightly tilted his head.
"i might have lied to you last week when i asked to stay at aurora's.. and i had actually stayed at his since his parents were out of town.." she confessed, finally looking up at to see her reaction. "and i.. sorta let the pressure get to me.. and.. done.. what you're probably thinking.."
"then at school today there was talk going around about.. about it all.. and people were saying and asking very inappropriate things to me.. and i just got really frustrated with him and everything.. that my friends and i skipped class and i started drinking and went back and yelled at him.."
"alright.." she softly nodded, not so much agreeing with her choices but accepting that it happened. "i just don't get why you'd lie to us.. you know we don't mind if you have a boyfriend.."
"he wasn't actually my boyfriend.." penelope replied. "also ollie knew.. he's known for a while now that i was see him cause he... yeah, he knew. he told me not to be with him for this exact reason but i was being too stubborn to listen to him.."
"does ollie know him? or just of him?"
"ollie knows him.." she nodded. "he's been here a couple times over the years when ollie would invite that whole group of football boys over.."
"mh.. and did you say someone about a bet with his friends and another girl?" cecilia asked.
"yeah.." the younger sighed. "he was dared to date two girls, i've known it was going on.. and from what i know he was seeing me first but he was public with her instead so she didn't know he was also seeing me until today but i don't actually know what i said to her so i don't know if i got the point across that the dare was going on.."
"why wouldn't you tell her right when you found out?" she furrowed. "you should know to stick up for other girls when it comes to silly boys- you know this boy is not a man.. especially if he's still doing stuff like this to girls at seventeen, eighteen, however old he is.."
"i've liked him for a while so i've just been in like this haze when it came to him cause i've never had a guy be into me, and i.. don't really like the girl.. she's not the nicest to me so- i know that doesn't excuse anything, but i was being stupid when it came to it all.."
"okay.. well it's happened now so you can't really change it. you're young, you're bound to make some mistakes so i can't be that mad at you.. just please be honest with what you're up to from now on.. and please don't tell me you've being pulling an ollie and sneaking this boy in or sneaking out for him," she raised a brow, watching as she looking away from her. "penelope?"
"i may have a couple times.." she admitted. "but i only snuck him in, i never left, i've only been to his house that one time last week. but it won't happen anymore, i told him today that i'm done with whatever it is that we were.. and i'll let you know if i ever start seeing another guy.."
"were you at least being safe?" her mother folder her arms with a small sigh. "i don't want another ruby situation happening.."
"no," she shook her head in response to the second half of her comment. "i- we only done it once and i wouldn't have let it happen if there was no protection involved. i remember how much that whole thing affected ruby and what she went through.."
"okay, good. i still don't want any grandkids just yet," she replied as she stood up from the bed. "speaking of kids.. i'm gonna go pick viv and leo from school, you stay here, drink so more water, sober up at bit more before your dad's home. also if you ever want to go on birth control, tell me and i'll take you."
"okay.. bye," she smiled at her mother, watching as she walked out of the room.
