After talking to Spider, something changed within him, and I was grateful because now he also shared my enthusiasm and joy. Spider was genuinely kind. The ability to share the joys of your loved ones without feeling envy is a beautiful quality and indicative of a pure heart.

With a mischievous smile, he dragged me running through the laboratory back to where Harper had stayed. Together with her, we began the connection process for the first time with my Avatar. Although I knew this process very well from all the times I had witnessed other scientists driving their Avatars, I was still a little nervous.

Spider accompanied me through each of the preliminary instructions until the moment came for me to recline inside the closed capsule, at which point only Harper was with me. Spider had entered the room where my Avatar awaited the connection, excited to witness everything up close.

Harper closed the capsule in front of me with an excited smile. But when the light went out, and I was alone, on my own, my hands began to tremble, cold sweat running down my forehead. The tight space inside the bonding capsule pressed against me, and the feeling of being trapped was overwhelming. Nerves invaded me, and my breathing faltered, causing my heart to race.

Then, from outside, Harper must have been monitoring my vital signs because she shouted, "Try to think of something positive, don't get overwhelmed, take a deep breath."

I closed my eyes, trying to focus on my breathing, desperately seeking to calm myself. And then, suddenly, the image of Neteyam appeared in my mind. His comforting smile enveloped me, allowing me to set aside my nerves, imagining how exciting it would be when he sees my Avatar.

At that moment, with my eyes closed and my mind at peace, I felt myself entering a deep sleep, as if I were falling asleep.

But out of nowhere, I heard voices and saw lights flickering behind my eyelids. So I opened my eyes.

Initially, the intense lights caused temporary blindness, while the cacophony of sounds left me disoriented. However, within moments, my vision sharpened, and my hearing became crisp and distinct.

As my eyes opened, the first figures that came into view were Norm and a woman whose name eluded my memory. Holding a flashlight, she directed its intense beam directly into my eyes, evaluating my pupil dilation. The blinding brightness caused me to worry about the well-being of my fresh, newborn vision. Sensing the disturbance, Norm swiftly interjected, remarking on the inappropriateness of subjecting my newly opened eyes to such a harsh light.

Everything felt quite unfamiliar with this new body. However, as I sat up, my now tail shot out from behind me, moving uncontrollably in all directions, even pushing a computer away.

"You look so weird," Spider teased, looking at me in surprise.

My ears twitched in the direction of his voice, causing a slight shiver throughout my body as I noticed the great definition and auditory capacity I possessed.

"I feel even weirder," I replied, feeling truly uncomfortable and somewhat overwhelmed by the new sensations.

"Are you ready to begin?" Norm asked me, standing in front of me with an encouraging smile.

"Yes, absolutely," I responded, filled with excitement to start the tests and confirm that everything was in order so I could finally venture out with my new body.

"Very well," Norm said as he checked the monitors and measurement equipment beside him. "Your vital signs seem stable. Now, let's begin with the evaluation of your motor response," he looked directly at me.

Norm started performing various coordinated motor movements with his fingers, hands, and arms for me to imitate.

Once we finished with the upper extremities, and everything went well, Spider immediately interjected, "Alright, Norm, enough with the protocols," he chuckled, looking at me. "Della is perfect, let's go already!"
