We were forced to sit abruptly on the ground, amid blows and shoves, forming a circle of captives. Red handcuffs, made of a material unknown to me, were placed on our wrists. Fear overwhelmed me, threatening to spill over into tears.Nevertheless, I gathered all my strength and suppressed the crying, seeking the necessary courage to face the situation bravely, just like my friends were doing.
Time warped, distorting into a confusing and desperate amalgam.
Minutes stretched out like endless torture, while tension and fear thickened in the suffocating air.
Each second seemed eternal; every heartbeat resonated with a deafening force in my chest. Like the echo of a war drum marking the distressing rhythm of our bewildering wait.
Clouds gathered in the dark sky, releasing a gentle tropical rain. The rain turned into a curtain of water enveloping us in a veil of helplessness.
I felt that rain as Eywa's tears sharing our anguish.
With the oxygen mask covering my face, my vision blurred and distorted. The darkness of the night took hold of everything, plunging us into the bioluminescence of the plants.
Every passing minute, my hope faded away, like a flame slowly extinguishing.
In the distance, amid the gentle murmur of the rain and the echo that disappeared among the trees, I heard the signal.
I looked at Kiri, and in her expression, I confirmed my suspicions. Neytiri was letting us know that they were here. Mimicking the songs of birds, she indicated that we should be prepared and wait for the opportune moment to escape.
A woman had me by the hair when Kiri began pleading Eywa for our well-being. A few seconds later, an arrow pierced the head of the man holding her and Spider, freeing them from his grip.
Quaritch instantly jumped in front of them and began shooting in the direction from which the arrow had come.
Then, I witnessed how Lo'ak detonated a gas bomb on his captor's belt. Thus, he and Tuk seized the opportunity to break free by biting their attackers. I saw them run until they disappeared into the thickness of the foliage.
