"I don't know, Teyam," I said with great concern as we adjusted Taw's harnesses. "I have a really bad feeling, I'm scared."
Neteyam turned to me and gently took me by the shoulders, reassuring me. "Hey, hey," he comforted. "You don't have to come if you don't want to."
"Are you crazy?" I exclaimed. "If you're going, I'm going with you," I said indignantly at his suggestion, "but I'd prefer if we stayed here, at least for today."
He sighed, smiling and shaking his head incredulously. "We'll just fly behind the group. It's very safe. There have been no injuries in this position," he tried to reassure me. "It's just for observation and to start participating a bit. Besides, with your impeccable aim, it doesn't hurt to have you with me," he added proudly, managing to ease my tension a bit.
"Yeah," I said, hesitating a bit. "I guess that's the only reason your father allows me to join this mission."
"And..." he chuckled as we waited by Taw for the departure order. "Maybe... I might have insisted a bit for you to accompany me." He smiled conspiratorially. "Well, maybe more than a bit."
"Hey!" I protested, giving him a gentle punch. "Do you want to take me to war so I get killed?" We both laughed.
As we soared through the air on Taw, Neteyam and I felt a rush of excitement as Jake gave the order to depart.
We closely followed the group on our first mission, flying in formation while Lo'ak, riding his own ikran, flew alongside us.
The plan was simple: detonate the RDA supply train to seize valuable resources.
The moment the bomb went off and the train derailed in a fiery explosion, everyone descended in an organized frenzy, determined to grab weapons and dive into the scattered supplies, thirsty for as much machinery as possible.
Meanwhile, Lo'ak, Neteyam, and I soared above, maintaining a constant vigil from the heights, searching for any signs of danger.
I had binoculars hanging around my neck and a firearm in my hands, ready to act at any moment. Neteyam, on the other hand, had his bow slung on his back. His communicator necklace, with a small microphone resting on his neck and the earpiece close to his ear, allowed us to stay in communication with everything happening around us."Bro!" Lo'ak approached on his ikran, getting his brother's attention. "We need to go down there," he urgently shouted, insisting that they join the rest of the group engaged in looting the supplies.
I sharply turned my head towards him, pushing the binoculars away from my view and letting them rest on my lap. The madness of his words pierced my ears, eliciting an immediate reaction.
"No way!" Neteyam exclaimed, his eyes fixed on his brother with determination. "Dad will skin us."
"Come on, come on!" Lo'ak retorted, raising his voice. "Don't be a wuss."
