A gentle breeze flew through the branches surronding the river-faye, one lonely stormy-haired fae sitting by the rushing river. Sun shone down from it's place high in the sky, warming the naturally cold fairy. The sound of the harsh currents as they crashed against the ground, slowly eroding it over time, gave comfort to this damsel. It always had, and would always will.
The river-faye was her favorite spot in the nature kingdom to escape to, slipping out of her abode in the clouds often just to humm along to the melody of the water. Flowers dominated the grass, colors of all different shades and tones offering their beauty for eyes to see. Or in her case, eye. It didn't seem like a hotspot for the actual residents of the kingdom, so she had no makeup on, red eye and large scar popping out of her pale skin.

In the distance, a girl's rosy wings, enveloped in fresh vines and sheaths of rose veils, gently fanned the still air under an azure sky. Her wings were as soft as petals and colored just as pleasant, fluttering with glee. As they danced in their airborne way, the light breeze embraced a gentle floral fragrance. The fairy hummed to herself, seemingly in her own world. A woven basket clung to her tan arms, its interior contents almost entirely empty.
Taking a few light steps, her feet collided with the overgrown grassy area. Her wings were brought to a quiet close, adjusting the basket into her palm. She often visited the river-faye, not only to collect flowers for her mother, but enjoyed the calming atmosphere the location brought. Despite the rivers charming qualities, the scene never seemed to have many visitors, which, didn't bother her at all.
Her emerald gaze began to skim her surroundings, not expecting to see anything but a varying array flowers. Though, when a distant figure caught her attention, her eyes were slightly blown wide. She drew her lower lip between her teeth, a pit of anxiety beginning to swirl in her stomach.

Although the river was very loud, Skye had always been acutely aware of her surroundings, and her ears had really grown numb to the crashing noise of the running water. The wind fairy flinched when she heard.. someone, whoever, entering the area, opening her feathery wings slightly. This place had always been a.. less than popular place, so she usually didn't run into the locals here. Because of that, she hadn't worn any makeup to conceal her scar, or her contact.
Panicking, she would grab at her hair, trying to use it to cover it. Though, her hair was really short at the time, so it didn't really work out. All she could do was tilt her head in a way that it would stay out of view. Or cover it with her hand. She settled on the latter. Bringing up her hand, she covered her eye delicately, then turning her head. There was a figure in a distance, a fairy, not an animal, like she hoped. She felt a bowling-ball like thing drop in her stomach, eyes widening. Shit.

Despite her general bubbly personality, Natalia wasn't expecting to see any fae on her trip to the river-faye. She swallowed a bud of saliva, attempting to push down her slight nervousness. That was until she read the other fairy's body language. They seemed...nervous—Even more nervous than her, for that matter. Her bubbling anxiousness began to cease to exist, realizing how frightened the other fairy was.
Just from a faraway glance at their distant appearance, she could tell the fairy wasn't from her kingdom. Though, the brunette never saw an issue with other races coming to the Nature Kingdom. She remembered how certain fairy races were supposed to dislike each other, discrimination or hatred dividing the individuals up, but she didn't particularly understand why.
Natalia didn't want to create any more anxiety for the fairy, deciding to let them be. The nature fairy resumed the quiet hum she had sung on her way to the river, settling down into a large patch of malva sylvestrises, somewhat nearby the other fairy.

She blinked, now a bit confused. Huh, it seemed like the fae had decided to leave her alone, which she was grateful for. Though now.. She didn't know what to do. Skye hadn't really interacted with others all that much growing up, being isolated with homeschooling, up in her home in the sky. Leave, maybe? But she didn't want to do that, really. It would be.. rude, right? Just thinking about it made her realize how little she really knew about socializing.
Tentively, she rose from her sitting position by the water, careful to not accidently fall into the raging waters. That wouldn't be too fun. Really, she had no idea what to do, but they seemed nice enough. Hopefully. Her wings fluttered softly, a feather or two falling off as she walked over. She didn't want the fairy to see her eye, but her arm was beginning to hurt, so she sat beside them, just with her head turned away so they couldn't see her. She didn't know what to say, or if she even should say anything, so she just sat there awkwardly in silence.

The pads of her delicate fingers grazed the undersides of the petals, her focused gaze analyzed the buds that were barely starting to open over those that were already fully open. Wrapping her fingers around their stems, she'd pluck the desired flowers her mother would need. Regardless of her attentiveness to the floral items, the damsel could hear a slight movement coming from the fairy she had sat nearby. Natalia didn't pay much mind to the soft sounds of the grass beneath them, selecting flowers with healthy-looking leaves, making sure the calyx and sepals were green and healthy to take.
Placing her picked flowers into the other end of her basket, she separated the set she had just taken, from the ones she had previously picked in another location. However, when the unknown fairy sat down beside her, she raised her attention from her woven basket. Her doe eyes flickered to them, an innocent look shining in her eyes.
The brunette's viridescent eyes visibly widened, before her affable energy drew the corners of her lips to lift toward her creased eyes. Smiling at them, she glanced back down at her basket, picking up a yellow daylily. Natalia gently placed it in their hair, her soft grin still on her rosy lips.

The feeling of grass pricking against her skin resumed, though now it was mixed in with the feel of flower petals. There were a bunch of flowers there, she realized. Like orchids, daffodils, dhalias.. And much more, that she didn't know the name of, because she still was a wind fairy at the end of the day—Even if she learned a lot about the other fairies and their stuff in her free time.
Her eyes widened as she watched the other fairy—A girl, she realized,—place a flower in her hair. If she were in a cartoon, it would be one of those scenes where the character's mouths would be to the floor. In her world, though, her mouth was simply agap, and she looked quite stupid. Flustered, she wondered what to do. Her gaze flickered down to the ground. Peonys always seemed really pretty to her, and pink would suit this nature fae, from what she could see. The damsel plucked it from the ground, then turning her attention to the unnamed fae. Trying not to show her eye, she placed the pink flower in her hair.

The nature fairy's gaze lowered from the golden flower she placed into the girl's hair, noticing the wind fairy's shocked expression. Natalia couldn't help but grin harder, hoping that the fae liked the one she gave her. The two hadn't spoken a single word but exchanged slight glances, friendly glances.
As the fairy looked away, Natalia watched her glance around, as if she were looking for something. Her smile lowered a bit, now wearing a simple beam. Her lips idly pressed together, causing her cheeks to slightly puff out. Though, when a pink peony was put into her brunette hair, Natalia's lips curved into a circular shape, looking up to see a few petals sticking out enough to be in her field of view. The nature fae radiated joy, tilting her head slightly. "Yellow is a nice color on you!" She chirped with a quick nod, breaking the silence the pair were sitting in.
She smiled, retracting her hand and placing it in her lap. Pink suited the fairy—Which was pretty obvious, given her wings were pink, and looked pretty. The wind fae didn't quite know why she was doing this, trying to make friends with the stranger, but it seemed to be going well! They had smiled at each other, and put flowers in each others hair, which was nice! Well, she assumed it was.
Her smile only grew at the compliment, though she was surprised. Her closet really only consisted of.. Well, whites and greys, like the clouds she saw so often in the wind kingdom. She didn't often wear bright colors, since that just didn't seem like the norm. "Ah.. Well, it's unfortunate that I only wear whites and greys..." Though, maybe she should try some yellow clothes?

Seeing the fae smile was amiable, considering she seemed to be less intimidated by the nature fairy—Which relieved Natalia. The girl struggled to make friends most of the time, even though her personality was rather bubbly. Making friends with an absolute stranger didn't seem all that bad, though, she seemed sweet. The wind fairy even gave her a pink flower! She adored the color pink, it was her favorite color.
Although, the fairy's outfit was rather...dull? There wasn't much color to it, which certainly confused the damsel. Natalia wasn't very educated on the color palettes most fairies wore aside from her own. She believed that anyone could wear anything they wanted, they were just colors, anyway? Yellow definitely suited the fae.
Natalia slowly nodded as she spoke, pursing her lips to the side. "Really? Well, you should try some more fun colors, I bet you'd like great in them!" She grinned, genuinely meaning the compliment.

"I'll.. Try." She nodded, picking at the flowers in the ground. Skye would probably ask her dad to buy more colorful clothes the next time they went shopping, given that she didn't even have her own money. Maybe they'd go to a shop in a different kingdom, though. There was a clothing store a short while from where she was now, after all.
Her eyes widened. Her dad! Before the nature fae had came, she was planning on leaving in just a few minutes, lest she be caught sneaking out by her father. The fairy had completed forgotten about it. How much time had passed? She'd better get going now. She shot up from her sitting position, taking a few steps back as she turned. "I've gotta get going now! Nice to meet you! I'm Skye!" Her wings began to flutter, before she flew up into the sky, towards her house.

Natalia lay sprawled across the grass by the river, twirling a pink peony in between her fingers. "—And then, you just left me there! I didn't even get to tell you my name. I was convinced I'd literally never see you again." The brunette explained, gesturing her hands with the story. She'd crane her head to the side, blades of grass tickling her freckled cheek as she glanced at her best friend.
"At least, that's what I remember happening. I'm honestly not too sure if I missed anything." Natalia giggled, furrowing her brows in thought. She didn't have the best memory, but meeting Skye was by far one of the best things to ever happen to the girl.

"I'm sorry, but my dad would've given me hell if he had caught me sneaking out!" Her legs were in a criss cross position, leaning on her arms as she sat. "At least I got your name at my first day at Orchid.. I'm surprised we recognized each other honestly. Given I had cut my hair and all." She shrugged, shuddering a little at the image of her with long hair. The fairy had been keeping it short for so long that it seemed odd to her now. Though maybe she would try growing it out soon..
Lifting one hand to tap her chin, she recalled the scene once more. It had been a few years.. Four? Three? She couldn't recall the exact date. She had definitely forgotten some parts, but she was pretty sure that the two of them remember the basis of it. There was no way that she would forget that day, after all.

A soft chuckle escaped her lips, tucking the peony she held behind her pointed ear. Natalia wasn't that serious when it came to Skye flying off into the Wind Kingdom when they had first met, though, she never was able to tell her her name. Even though she thought she'd never see her again, Natalia had hoped they would somehow meet again, enjoying their simple, yet sweet, interaction. It was quite a coincidence that they both had ended up attended Orchid Academy, being able to resume their friendship there.
She'd nod. "I remember faces more than I remember names. You weren't that unrecognizable despite cutting your hair. Still have the same features." The nature fae replied, flipping over to lay on her stomach. She put most of her weight on her elbows that sunk into the (itchy) grass, most likely leaving small marks along her arms. Humming, a dumb smile rose her lips after thinking back to the moment. "I'm glad I met you."
