Holding a grey duffle bag, filled with all your necessities for a sleepover—A toothbrush, a sleeping bag, whatever else she had planted in there in the middle of the night and had forgotten about, all that stuff—Skye walked down the halls of the Orchid Sophmore dormitories. It was a relatively short walk from her dorm to Kai's, but she still brought some stuff. She slowed to a stop in front of her friend's dorm, dorm #4, staring at the closed door.
Letting out a breath, she walked up to it, giving it a few short knocks. Then she stepped away from it, making sure to stay out of the little quarter circle that would be a death zone if Kai opened the door. She rested a hand on her hip, whistling softly as she waited.
Kai carried a tray of different snacks and a few cans of soda from the kitchen into the living room. Setting it down on top of the coffee table. A small smile was on his lips as he stood up straight, dusting his hands off. He had invited Natalia and Skye, his best friends, over for a sleepover and decided to prepare a few things before they got there. A few board games were even taken out the occasion.
As he stared at the tray, he wondered if they were enough snacks to last until they went to sleep and just shrugged. He had more anyways. A few short knocks snapped him out of his train of thought. The fire fae walked towards the door, the bunny slippers he wore squeaking against the floorboards as he walked. He unlocked and opened the door, happy to see his friend. "Hey Skye, come on in." He spoke, stepping to the side to allow her to come into the dorm.
"Heya," she responded, giving a small wave as she stepped inside. Though, before she walked inside, she offered a little comment. "Nice bunny slippers," she snickered, before continuing on her way. Automatically, she went over to the couch, plopping down onto the comfy furniture. Letting out a sigh, she dropped the bag onto the floor, leaning back. The fae was excited to play around and just hang out with him and Natalia.
Speaking of that, she wondered where the nature fairy was, which was quickly answered by a few knocks at the door. Since Kai was closer to the door, she stayed where she was, sitting comfortably on the sofa. The board games, which she had just noticed, seemed fun. Monopoly in particular she was excited to play, she was great at that game. She always used to play it with her father.
Trailing behind her best friend, Natalia had a light pink backpack attached to her back. The girl had previously stopped at a vending machine that resided in the hallway to grab a pack of spicy chips; the sounds of the plastic bag crinkling against her hands echoed through the dormitory halls. Filled with joy with her newly bought snack, she wore a bright beam across her face. She began to skip through the hallways, her backpack and its contents jiggling around with each hop.
Eventually, she made it outside Kai's place, dorm #4. It had seemed like Skye had already entered, seeing as she wasn't in front of the door herself. The nature fairy shifted the bag she held to raise her dominant hand to knock against the door. She pressed her knuckles against the rough texture, waiting patiently to be let in. Natalia opened the bag of spicy chips, a waft of the differing spice blends and lime arising in the air. She'd sniffle, rocking on her heels as she continued to wait for the door to be opened.
He waved back at her, shutting the door and blinked. He glanced down at his black bunny slippers, almost forgetting he had them on. "Thanks." Kai replied, going to walk away from the door but only got a few steps away when there a few knocks on the door. He paused, whirled around and opened the door.
The bag of spicy ships honestly caught his attention first before he noticed Natalia. "Hi Nat." He greeted her and stepped out the way like before, closing the door once she was inside. Kai walked back towards the coffee table, sitting down on the ground next to his board games. Wiping off a bit of dust from the box containing Monopoly.
Once the door was pulled open, her emerald eyes visibly brightened at the sight of her peers. She waved, two of her fingers holding onto one chip.
"Hi!" Natalia chirped, stepping inside the dorm room as Kai stepped aside. She went over to the sofa where Skye sat, sitting down next to her with a slight bounce. The brunette bit the chip in her hand, a loud crunch emitted from the snack. Her gaze trailed over a few of the board games laid out, some she had never heard of, and some she was quite familiar with.
"Hey Nat," Skye greeted, criss-crossing her legs. She glanced at the bag of chips, before quickly stealing one and shoving it into her mouth. They were, obviously, good. Smirking, she chewed on the treat, swallowing it in a few short seconds. Leaning back, she glanced at the fire fae, and the board game he held.
"What are we doing first? Playing that?" she questioned, gesturing to the box. There was a twinge of excitement to her words. Not only was Monopoly fun, it was super competetive! Though, she supposed that was apart of the fun. She placed a bet in her mind that they would all be screaming by the end of a single game.
Kai grabbed a can of soda, lifting the tab to open it and took a sip after silently apologizing to someone in his head. He glanced toward the wind fae upon hearing her question. "Oh, we can if you guys want to." He spoke, setting the box back down on top of the pile of different games.
He had took most of them out since he had absolute no idea which one they would want to play. Playing Monopoly first sounded like a good idea, it was a game that took quite some time to complete after all. He took another sip, waiting for their response.
As Natalia began to chew another spicy chip, she silently waved at Skye, greeting her back. The nature fairy's crunchy chewing wasn't the quietest, her round eyes glued to the inside of the full bag. She didn't mind that Skye had stolen a chip, wearing a content smile on her lips, clearly enjoying herself. Natalia also didn't care too much on which board game they'd play, she'd be fine with anything—As long as she had her chips with her.
"Alright. You know how to play, right?" she asked Natalia, turning her head to the girl. The game was simple, so even if she didn't, it would be easy enough for her to learn... Probably, hopefully. Sometimes she could overestimate her best friend's intelligence, which was... Well, less than average to put it lightly.
She fiddled with her dress, unable to sit still. For whatever reason, she was feeling jittery that day. Maybe she had intaken too much caffeine that morning. Skye grabbed one of the nearby pillows, deciding to play with that instead.
She blinked slowly, turning her head to Skye. Natalia continued chewing, her cheeks puffed out slightly. Her gaze blinked over to the game of Monopoly on the coffee table and back to her best friend. The brunette's lack of response spoke for itself, but she slowly shook her head, putting another chip in her mouth.
She had never played Monopoly before, sure, she had heard of it before, but she'd never actually taken the time to learn how it worked. Though, from the looks of it, it looked rather complicated. Natalia's usual board games were games like Candyland, wasn't Monopoly about the economy or something?
