Skye stepped out of her dad's card, exclaiming a thanks to him as she did. She could've easily flown there, but her dad didn't want her to mess up her dress if she did. Plus, he wanted to see her off. The dress she had chosen was quite shimmery, an off the shoulder, to the floor, and sparkly dress. It came with a matching necklace, that she also wore. Her stormy grey hair had been arranged in a braid around her head, glasses resting on her face as usual.
Squinting her eyes, she searched for her date. She was as romantically single as ever, of course, and unfortunately.. So, she was going with Kai! Rhine wasn't attending, so he had asked her to go with him. Noticing him, she'd relax her eyes, walking over. "Heya, you look.. dashing!" she greeted with a smile.

Upon hearing Skye's voice, he turned with a smile on his face, clearly excited to see his friend. Kai looked down at her as he spoke. "Hi Skye! Thanks. You look amazing tonight!" He complimented, finding the shimmer of her dress beautiful.
The teen was thankful she agreed to go with him since he was bummed out upon learning his boyfriend wouldn't. Oh well! It'll be just as fun to be here with Skye. She was his best friend after all. Now noticing that people were heading up the stairs, he grabbed her hand and started walking up as well.
"Come out, let's go check out the ballroom." He spoke, only holding her hand due to not wanting to get separated in the crowd of their fellow classmates. There were a lot more people here than he expected there to be.

She would respond with a thanks to his comment, about to speak more before he grabbed her hand and started to walk up the stairs. Blinking, she would walk along. The ballroom *did* look good, from the last time she saw it. The damsel had helped set up some parts near the beginning, but she hadn't gotten the chance to see the finished product. "Alright," she agreed.

Kai walked through the divine hallway after making it to the top of the stairs, looking around in complete awe. His shoes clicked against the marble patterned floor, golden tint illuminating his view. "Wow." The teen mumbled, staring at each piece of decor in the hallway as they passed by them. He hadn't expected the hallway to be decorated as well and it simply made him want to see what the ballroom looked like more. "Oh, thanks for coming with me Skye." He spoke with a smile.

"No problem, it would've been pretty boring to go alone for me too.. Though, I probably would've ended up hanging out with you anyway." she gave a shrug. Going alone was quite lonely, she remembered from last year's prom thing. She still had fun with Hibiscus, though. Hibiscus... Shaking off the thought, she'd turn to look closer at the decorations. Even the hallway was decorated gorgeously.

"Ah, that probably would've happened, but it's more fun being each other's dates." He exclaimed. Going with a friend was normal to him after all. Last year he went with Venturi, who he hasn't seen in a while and misses, but has always gone to school dances or events as his friends' date. So, Kai wasn't hesitant to ask Skye. "The decor is beautiful. But, I bet the ballroom looks better." He said while going back to looking around, following the crowd towards said room while keeping ahold of her hand.

"We'll see," she said simply. A few more minutes of walking and admiring the hallway, a few more minutes of them just chatting about whatever, before she saw the door to the ballroom. Grinning, she'd tug at his hand. "C'mon! Let's go!" This time, she was the one to pull him along, wanting to see the ballroom.

"Ah-" It was safe to say Kai was surprised by her sudden tug and excitement but simply followed along through the ballroom door. Eyes widening the second he saw how it was decorated. The teen was only able to help with setting up chairs and tables earlier so he wasn't able to see the finished product but wow, it looked amazing.
It was clear how much effort was put into it, to make it appear like a winter wonderland. "Woah. It looked better than I expected." The teen said while gazing about, eyes glimmering. They stood there for a few seconds before Kai pointed towards a table. "We should probably go claim some seats before they all get taken."

"I don't mind standing even if they are all taken." But she stilled walked over to the table he had gestured to, finally letting go of his hand to plop down on a chair. There were already some snacks on the table, but the main food was on a separate one.

"Noted." He mumbled, letting go of her hand while taking a set next to her. Staring down blankly at the food set on the table. Mainly at the plated food before looking away. Deciding to taste one of the snacks on the table instead. Hm.

The wind fairy would pick up a snack, taking a hesitant bite. It tasted horrible. Coughing, she'd wipe her mouth, glaring at the food. Although the Academy knew how to decorate, they did not know where to get some good food. Or maybe that was just her.

Unison sounds of feathered wings flapped against the torso of the flying creature. Emerald soared across the deep blue that decorated the night which almost blended in with the long tail at the end of its anatomy. After a few rounds of spiralling around the area, the Queztal came to a close and landed upon a pedestal that was situated on a white stone stage. An enevelop of cinnamon colour sat in the beck of the Quetzal, indicating that the final results of the winners were about to be revealed. The bird raised its right wing into the air, hoping to signal the students who were enjoying themselves for the night.

It wasn't good. Nor was it bad. Kai had strange tastebuds. He glanced over to Skye upon hearing her cough and saw her glare at the food. Maybe it was bad? He finished it anyway before leaning back into his chair. Eyes drifting off elsewhere. Hm... Kai soon disappeared before returning with a small slice of cake. Preferring that over the plated meal. Starting to eat it before noticing the school's mascot and stared at it.

Seeing her date staring at something, she would follow his trail of vision, spotting the colorful bird that was their school mascot. Was it time for the winter royalty? She hadn't ran for it, as she didn't particularly care, and wasn't exactly popular, but she knew a few people who had.

Achieving attention from the students, all eyes were focused onto the Queztal. For a small bird, this was definitely scared the feathered creature which in result made the Queztal tense up and shake slightly. Though after a little while, the Queztal collected themselves and fixed its poor posture. With feathers for hands and beck for grip, it took some time for the bird to take hold of the letter within. Finally, the winged animal swiped up the letter successfully was ready to announce the following winners of royalty. "Ahem, I am sure you are all curious to know of the winners of Winter Royalty! Well, tonight to ensure this won't take too long, I will announce them right away." The top head of the Queztal was placed on the folded letter to open the inscriptions within it. "And your winners are..."

Winter Royalty is just like prom king and queen. Through a careful voting system, students have the right to vote who they believe would achieve such a high status. And students who would campaign achieve the competing aspect as well. But of course, only two come out on top between over hundreds of students. The Queztal lifted the paper upwards, " And the winners are... surprisingly TWO wind fairies! Congratulations to Mateo Fields and Melody Valentina Lee!!! Please come on up onto the stage to recieve your winter crown, sash and announce a small speech in gratitude!"

At the announcement, Skye would raise her hands, clapping. She vaguely knew Melody, she was Natalia's girlfriend. And then Mateo was Mateo. The damsel was still happy for him, she guessed.

The crown dropped on his head was heavier than he expected, and he used a free hand to balance the crown. Clearing this throat, Mateo began his speech which was in fact quite literally, a small speech. "Thanks for voting for me and I now have bragging rights!!"

She could feel her eyes rolling without her even trying.
