Keeping her distance from the Cullens was something Althea was quick to learn. She might have even become the master at it. In school she would show up to classes, keep to herself and then go home. It was as simple as that. Though Edward had tried to talk to her a few times, he had ultimately failed. It killed him inside each time he was met with silence from the girl. It felt like a part of him was being torn apart by her icing him out. And all of her thoughts were a mystery to him. Alice had attempted to approach the girl but Althea was quick to disappear without a trace. Afterall, any of her future actions were now completely unclear to Alice.

She was still in shock and confused as to what she had seen. But unlike Bella, Althea didn't pester for questions from the family. Althea had known the Cullens since they had moved to Forks and they had never given a reason for the girl to believe they'd hurt her. It's just the normal fear of the unknown that washed over her. She felt like she had known them well enough. Though the most recent actions had made her start doubting herself. Yes, Edward had saved her sister from being crushed by the van, but how he did it was nerve wracking to her. It was all new and scary. Even if she couldn't be super surprised. They did live in Forks, Washington where weird shit happened a bit too frequently.

Bella had gotten home from her biology field trip to find Charlie and Althea sitting at the kitchen table. Althea was eating a snack while Charlie flipped through the newspaper. The older girl made her way over to them, trying to set her bag down on the chair but it fell off to the floor. Althea chuckled at it while Bella rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly.

"Your mother called. Again," Charlie informed Bella.

"Well, that's your fault," Bella told him.

"Yeah, and because of it I got to listen to her interrogate me about any boys in my life. She was a little disappointed that I had nothing new to tell," Althea said with a shrug, getting up from her seat to throw the trash away.

"What about..." Bella began but Althea gave her a look.

"And I'm proud of you for not having anything to tell. Maybe a break from boys is good," Charlie commented. Althea would've said a break from them, specifically Edward, actually sucked. But she kept her mouth shut. Charlie turned to Bella. "I suppose you're right. She always knew how to worry." Silence fell over the room before he decided to go on.
