Josh's POV

Everyone stops training when we hear a gunshot.

The instructors quickly get out of their shock, before they tell us to get into the safe room, which is right next to the training ground.

But all I can think about is the fact that I know that my mate if somewhere in the woods, because he told me that he will be going out today.

I quickly run out of the training grounds, before any of the instructors can catch me.

And I run towards my house, hoping that after all Nicolas decided to stay there today.

But he's not here, so I try to sniff him out, which I should have done right after I run out of the training grounds, instead of coming here.

Then I follow his scent, which leads in the opposite direction of the training grounds.

I think that it leads in the direction of where the sound of the gunshot came from, so I start to run quicker.

Then I hear another gunshot, and I run at the full speed towards my mate.

I reach the place where a lot of warriors are standing at, and the scent of Nicolas is coming right from behind them, so I push some of them out of my way, as I try to get to him.

I get stopped by someone, and when I trunk around I see that it's papa, who has a stern look at his face, clearly not happy that I'm here.

I open my mouth to speak, but he starts to push me through the people, towards my mate, so I guess that he just got here too, and he must want to see what happened.

"Alright everyone, I want you to go back to your work, I won't need you here anymore." Denver says, and the people start to go back in the direction of the pack house, which makes it easier to get to my mate.

I sigh in relief when I see that he's alright.

Denver is holding a gun that must have made this sounds, and now I can smell some blood, but I think that it comes from a squirrel.

"What happened?" Papa asks Denver before I can.

"I will let Nicolas explain." Denver says, and for he grips my mate's arm tightly, before he starts to pull him back towards the pack house.

Papa and I go with them, and I look at my mate expectantly.

"I found a gun and I decided to use it." He tells me with a shrug.

"That wasn't very smart." I tell him.

"How was I supposed to know that the whole pack will make a big deal out of a few gunshots?" He asks me, sounding a bit annoyed at the whole situation.

"There are hunters in those woods, they seek us out, and some just kill us while some kidnap us to do some experiments on us, because we're not fully human, that's why we panic when we hear something like this." I explain to him.

I'm a bit angry that he decided to just take the gun with him, instead of taking it back to the pack house to give back to Denver.

"At least a kid didn't find it, that most likely would have been worse." Papa says, and I nod in agreement
