Josh's POV

A few hours after we part with the rest of the team, we decide that it's time to eat something, and to get some rest.

To my disappointed, Joseph didn't want to keep searching for the serial killer, and he told me that were going straight to the pack.

I just rolled my eyes at him, and I followed him back towards the pack, I really have no idea why they would prefer to make me go back with only two people, over letting me stay with the whole team.

After all, if something would happen, then I would be safer if I was with a lot of people.

But it seems that Tyler isn't the best at thinking logically, so I will have to go back to the pack, where Joseph will tell his mate about the fact that I have sneaked out of the pack lands, and he will be angry at me for Goddess knows how long.

When we finish eating, we decide to continue walking, or more like Joseph decided that we will go, and Wyatt agrees with him, so I don't have any other choice than to follow them.

But as I stand up I can hear that someone is swearing at himself, so I try to concentrate on his voice.

"The prison was easier." He says harshly, and my eyes widen.

I look at Joseph and Wyatt, who are clearly annoyed that they have to wait on me.

I don't think that they heard what I heard, and I consider if I should tell them.

"Are you going, or are we supposed to wait here forever?" Wyatt asks me.

"The serial killer is not far this way." I say, and I point to the right, where I heard the voice come from.

"Not funny." Joseph tells me, but I shake my head.

"Really, I heard him say something about prison." I tell him, hoping that he will believe me.

But he comes over, and he grabs the back of my neck, before he starts to lead me back towards the pack lands, which aren't very far from here.

We could have changed to our wolf forms, but there are a lot of hunters here lately, and we don't want to get their attention, or lead them to the pack.

And when we're in the human form, we make a lot less noise when we walk, so we can hear more things.

We walk only a few steps, until I can smell the best scent that I have ever smelled, and I stop walking, causing Joseph to tighten his hold on my neck, which is quite painful.

"I can smell my mate." I say, but then I frown when I realise that the scent comes with the scent of the blood.

Which means that he's bleeding, and he must have masked his scent, because I should have smelled him from the other side of the woods.

Joseph rolls his eyes, while Wyatt's eyes widen, and then he smiles happily, while Joseph sighs in frustration.

"Lead the way." Joseph tells me, although I don't really think that he believes me.

But after we make a few steps towards my mate, he seems to catch the smell of the blood, so he makes me go quicker.
