[ Somewhere In Between ]
According to studies, the human brain cannot perform two tasks that require high-level brain function at once; so when the door of Jeonghan's office, quite audibly, opened and closed with a thud, it didn't really reach to his comprehension.
His brain was too occupied with apprehending ink on paper, scrutinizing the first word down to the last for only then he could sign them and he would never have to see those documents ever again, he hoped.
Up until then, he had still not understood himself for doing all that as his means of distraction.
"You seem so serious.", An apprehending sentence from someone's voice. It took four words from Victoria to make his mind avert from the papers.
His eyes travelled its way to where she was standing. "Victoria.", Her name on his voice held a different feeling. "How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough to convince me that you weren't just playing around.", Victoria somehow ended it as a question with a subtle shrug of her shoulders.
The left corner of Jeonghan's lips lifted into a smirk. "Do you actually think that I am the type to do that?"
"Well, if anything, you used to not take it seriously.", From being about a meter near the door, Victoria began to walk towards his table. "You had all the freedom to play around."
He couldn't help but scoff. He was rebellious, not free.
For a moment, Jeonghan exhaled a breathe, then tending back to her whilst his brows lifted with a questioning look. "Perhaps, I should know why you are here."
By the appearing dissapointment on Victoria's face, he might have already known the reason for her visit before she could even say it herself. "I was going to see Seungcheol, but his secretary said he went out."
Of course. Jeonghan went back to the paper that he was halfway into reading when Victoria interrupted him.
It wasn't like he was upset. Well, he used to hate it when all that Victoria talks about is Seungcheol, every moment, both when his older brother is around and not, and he would get so tired of it, but he liked talking to her and being with her as much as he didn't want her to only have eyes for Seungcheol, however, right then, he wasn't feeling the familiar feeling anymore.
Which was odd, if he spoke so, honestly.
He took a glance at Victoria whom had sat herself at the nearest spot of one of the couches close to his table, then went back to the document to sign, yet it didn't take that long for him to have his attention back to her, solely because of a last name she spoke.
"Hayashi. ."
His eyebrows were raising as he awaited for Victoria to continue. It was at his older brother's party that he became aware that, apparently, Victoria knew Raki, and his curiosity was on, to what extent.
"Did you meet her back in college?"
"No."
"Right. It would make no sense if you did."
He was beginning to think of the reasons why, that it took him a lot longer to reply. "Why?"
"Because, she dropped out on second year. And, I wouldn't have just known about your relationship from about two weeks ago if you had actually met at college."
Jeonghan recalled her saying that at the party as well, that Raki dropped out on second year and that Victoria and her were classmates. He was two years ahead of Victoria when they were in college, hence he was in fourth year, about to finish college, when Raki dropped out.
