[ Things That Are Meant To Be Contained ]
If their dinner could be described in one word, Raki would have suggested silent. Most of the time, the only thing that resonates in her ears were the distant conversations from the people dining inside the restaurant. And, the rest of the spoken time, when the two men in her table would try to talk, it would just be Seungcheol asking questions and Jeonghan answering with an average of two words per reply.
Raki have long noticed it, how cold Jeonghan was to his older brother and spoke so little about him when his family comes up as a topic for their conversation.
Perhaps, because she's doing it so herself, ignoring her older brother that is. That even when she found it painful and uncomfortable to witness Seungcheol trying to have a casual talk with Jeonghan, and him barely trying to keep up, she lets his manners slide, that it was alright, even when anyone would say it wasn't.
Raki observed the situation, as if by doing that, she would get the very idea of what she would do after they have finished dinner, if she stood up and put her coat over her once again, then what? Frankly, from the moment Jeonghan had came and involved himself, she hadn't been having the slightest idea of how to act anymore.
She felt awakward and uncomfrotable by just having his older brother around, him coming along just made those feelings a lot more immense.
As the two of them stood up, Raki followed along, grabbing her trench coat and just hang it around her arm.
For a moment, Jeonghan stood still and looked at Seungcheol. "We'll leave first.", He bid, and much to her surprise, he grabbed her hand, gently wrapping his hand around her fingers, then began to walk, not hurriedly, but with just the right amount of speed where she could keep up without needing effort.
However, with about four paces away from the table, a few seconds just after they left, Seungcheol called Jeonghan's name, Seungcheol was unknowingly skeptical, while Jeonghan wasn't when he should probably be after being called by his older brother after just having dinner together, which usually doesn't happen.
He let go of Raki's hand, he reckoned that it would only just take a second, and swiftly walked back to Seungcheol. "What is it?", Jeonghan asked, and he couldn't quite discern why Seungcheol was making that doubtful look so much.
"Did you actually came here for your keys?", Seungcheol questioned, and Jeonghan was taken aback for a good second.
And then it hit him. He came there for something, and yet somehow left with something else. It totally had slipped away from his mind, his purpose, and his instincs couldn't even have managed to give him sudden thoughts like, 'I feel like I'm forgetting something.', or 'Wasn't I here for something?'.
"Yes. Right.", Jeonghan ran his fingers through his hair. "Can I have them?", Then extended his palms towards his older brother.
"Just make sure Mom wouldn't find out."
He nodded his head passively, still quite inside his mind, as Seungcheol gave him his car keys back.
He sometimes, reasonably, forget things, yet, at that moment, he felt like his memory did it on purpose.
Raki remained quiet as Jeonghan made his way back to her, she would talk to him if the circumstances were different, but the feeling of being distant from him still lingers, she felt as if she would regret it if she does act like how she did three weeks ago when everything seemed fine.
On the way to the exit, Jeonghan stopped by a corner and grabbed a dark colored umbrella from a storage bucket. And Raki was impressed, about how he manages to always have an umbrella with him.
