"'Ya think anyone else will be there?" Skye asked offhandedly, her voice coming from behind her friends. They were approaching the waterfall and it's connecting lake, the past few minutes of their journey being filled with random conversation. Mainly between her and Natalia. She had fallen a bit behind because of her crutches, but was still keeping up pace. It was unlikely that there would be other fae, considering it was the middle of autumn, and temperatures were beginning to lower.
Levitating beside her was a floaty, resting comfortable on a wind carpet she had kept summoned for their entire walk. It was blue and covered with pictures of various marine animals.
Having been pulled out to hangout with the girls, the teen remained silent during the commute to Kallan Waterfall, too tired to keep up a conversation. So he simply listened to the random discussion that drifted between topics with a straight face, tired eyes hidden thanks to both the cap and his height.
It's been a while since the teenager had gone out, seen the light of day from somewhere else than a dorm or classroom window. Sunlight would do him good, even though he'd much rather be buried under a pile of blankets instead. But not wanting to worry the girls who seemed excited to hang out after a while, he agreed to go out with them.
Shrugging without a word, Kai continued walking ahead with slumber shoulders, hands shoved into the pockets of the sweater he wore. Adjusting his cap, he stared ahead, spotting the waterfall ahead and the conjoined lake, glittering beneath the golden sun. Appearing empty from afar. Good.
"Maybe, I hope it's just us though!" The girl chirped, a bright smile spread over her plump lips. The rushing waters of the Kallan Waterfall became louder as the trio approached its crashing sounds, the excitement on the brunettes face clearly eminent. Despite the rather cooler climate, Natalia remained unfazed, wearing a light pink swimsuit, frills and bows adorning the swimwear. Her waves rested alongside her shoulders, cascading down her back. Around her waist, Natalia held a floaty in place, small sounds coming from the rubbing plastic from every step she took.
Taking account of the beautiful environment, the girl let out a long breath, admiring Sirenasia. Out of all the kingdoms, it was definitely her least visited one, having left many locations yet to be explored. Running her tongue over the sparkling gloss that coated her lips, she'd look beside her, making sure to not leave the two behind. She noticed the dim look on Kai's face, and it made the smile on her lips tug. After his sudden absence, all she could do was hope they could cheer him up. After all, he deserved to be happy!
She tilted her head at the crashing waterfall, which had seemed to grow even more powerful since they had last visited. Which had been over a year ago, if she remembered correctly. Perhaps if she managed to survive it, they would find some buried treasure back there. Unfortunately, the only powers they were missing in this trio were water, and she didn't feel like adding drowning to her long list of issues.
Using an extra burst of effort, she threw her floaty all the way to the water. Her limping picked up pace, using a tiny bit of magic to speed herself up. "Keep up. Last one there has to greet the giant octopus!" It was a mirror of the statement she had said the last time they had been there.
Alongside the floaty she brought, Natalia had brought an un-inflated beach ball with her. Instead of using her entire lung capacity to blow up a single ball, she figured she'd ask Skye to inflate it for her. Looking up from the sad piece of plastic, the girl noticed Skye's pace pick up. After her remark, her eyebrows raised, a playful smirk rising to her lips.
"You're on!" She replied with a giggle, holding her floaty tighter within her grasp as she picked up her pace. If anything, Natalia had almost completely forgotten about the octopus incident. Wow, that was really dumb. She could only hope the fellow was nowhere to be found this time of the year.
If he had been here before or heard about it, Kai had no memory of it. The sound of rushing water filled his ears as he strolled closer towards the lake, a fresh scent consuming him further down the path. It was nice out here, even if they were in Sirenasia.
Upon hearing Skye's shout, he didn't make an effort to adjust his strides and merely fell behind the two as they rushed towards the lake. Had it been any earlier in the year, the teen would've broken out into a sprint, leaping into the water without a second thought. But he didn't feel like rushing.
And saying hi to the infamous giant octopus sounded... mildly interesting. He merely looked around, admiring the view surrounding the lake, hoping a little sun and water would do him well.
Noticing the lack of a third pair of footsteps, she looked back, seeing that Kai didn't join into the race she had made up. The two girls exchanged glances. Frowning slightly, she tried to brush it off, making it to the lake first easily, despite her injury. When Natalia met her there shortly after, she blew up her deflated plastic, much like she did to her own.
Skye slipped her animal floaty in, leaving her crutches on the dock and carefully lowering herself on. Then she used a huge gust of wind, sending her spinning into the middle of the lake, laughing. She had missed times like this.
When the flamewing finally reached the body of water, she let out a teasing yell, all the way out there. "I bet the octopus is getting real lonely down there." She grinned, laying content.
Tossing the now-inflated beach ball between her palms, Natalia glanced toward Kai, a look of concern spread over her freckled face. She hummed, deciding to join Skye inside the water. Dragging her own floaty into the lake, ripples of the glistening water echoed out from beneath the plastic.
As the leafwing climbed into the floaty, she was sent spinning a couple of times from the sudden burst of movement. She giggled, exclaiming, "Weeeeee!!" Smiling, she looked up at Kai, the pair awaiting for the flamewing to join the two.
