Chapter-5 Kisses and wishes

For a few seconds, Shreya genuinely wondered whether she had suddenly developed hearing problems.

She stared at Rey in complete disbelief.

Surely...

She had heard wrong.

There was absolutely no way her completely insane boss had just said what she thought he said.

After gathering whatever remained of her mental stability, she finally exploded.

"Excuse me?!"

She blinked twice.

Then pointed directly at him.

"Was that some kind of sick joke?"

Rey remained annoyingly calm.

"No."

His expression stayed serious.

"I'm completely serious."

He folded his arms.

"And before you start murdering me with your eyes... hear me out."

She stared.

Still processing.

"This marriage would benefit both of us."

Shreya let out a dry laugh.

"Benefit me?"

She turned toward him dramatically.

"Mr. Singhania, what exactly makes you think marrying you is beneficial for me?"

She narrowed her eyes.

"And if this has anything to do with your money..."

She pointed a finger at him.

"...then let me remind you that my family has more than enough money to spoil me for several lifetimes."

"I am not one of those women who dreams of marrying you because of your name, fame, money, or ridiculously inflated ego."

Rey leaned back.

Smirked.

"So..."

He paused deliberately.

"You do find me attractive."

Shreya stared at him.

Utter silence.

Then—

"You are genuinely unbelievable."

She rubbed her forehead.

"I refuse to believe a functioning brain exists inside that head."

Rey ignored the insult.

"Ms. Joshi, you already know my mother has been forcing me to get married."

"Yes," she deadpanned.

"The entire country probably knows by now."

He sighed dramatically.

"The issue is..."

He paused.

"My mother has somehow decided that you are the perfect woman for me."

Shreya blinked.

"...I'm sorry what?"

He nodded.

"And unfortunately, I cannot say no to her."

She crossed her arms.

"Why?"

He sighed.

"Because the woman is terrifying."
