Shreya's POV
As soon as I reached the parking lot, I asked my driver to wait.
Then I grabbed my navy blue blazer and buttoned it up quickly.
Professional.
Composed.
Like I hadn't just mentally survived a war called Rey Singhania.
No one at work could suspect I was on leave.
Especially not him.
⸻
I walked into the building and greeted Mrs. Briganza at reception.
She smiled warmly as always.
She looked the same every time I saw her—young, graceful, like time had simply forgotten her existence.
"Good morning, dear," she said.
I waved quickly.
"Morning, Mrs. Briganza."
Then I headed straight for the elevator.
Top floor.
Of course.
Because my life decisions always led upward... and straight into chaos.
The elevator was empty.
Perfect.
I used the time wisely.
Fixed my blazer.
Checked my reflection.
Quickly brushed my hair using the small brush from my bag.
Yes.
Because I was about to enter my boss's territory like a calm, professional woman who had not emotionally collapsed yesterday.
The elevator dinged.
Top floor.
Game face on.
⸻
As I stepped out and walked toward my cabin, I reminded myself:
Focus. Files. Leave approval. Exit gracefully.
My cabin was now on the top floor thanks to my "promotion".
A promotion that suspiciously felt like punishment disguised as success.
Rey's idea of management was clearly:
"If she suffers more, she'll either quit or become productive."
Spoiler: I became both confused and productive.
⸻
Just as I reached my door, someone tapped my shoulder.
I turned.
"Nita."
My friend looked at me like I had returned from a jungle survival show.
"Thank God you're alive," she said immediately.
"I thought you were dead or kidnapped or—wait—are you avoiding work or avoiding boss?"
I sighed.
"Relax, Super Express Train Nita."
"I'm taking leave. I'll be back Monday... or Tuesday... depending on emotional recovery."
Her eyes narrowed.
"Leave? From him?"
I nodded casually.
