Shreya's POV
1 week later
After the bomb dropped on me that day, I've been questioning everything.
Am I doing the right thing?
Am I mentally prepared for this?
Or have I simply agreed to a lifelong contract without reading the terms and conditions?
It's not even about Rey anymore.
Or my family.
It's about the fact that suddenly everyone thinks I am capable of managing a full-blown royal-level wedding like I am some kind of corporate project manager with emotional stability.
Spoiler: I am not.
I stared at myself in the mirror.
"...wedding jitters?" I muttered. "Or full-blown panic disorder?"
I sighed dramatically.
"Perfect. Love that for me."
⸻
The wedding preparations were in full swing.
And when I say full swing, I mean—
chaos dressed as tradition.
My family was running around like it was a national festival.
Rey's mother had somehow turned into a military general with Pinterest access.
And Rey—
Rey had become the most annoying mythological creature ever created:
A calm man with confidence and too much control.
He disappeared into "work" immediately after the announcement.
Which sounded suspicious.
Because every time I called him, I got:
"Busy."
"Meetings."
"Don't die before the wedding."
Very comforting.
Very romantic.
⸻
The media had gone feral.
Apparently:
* Rey was "forced into marriage"
* I was "secretly pregnant"
* We were "childhood enemies turned corporate merger"
One article literally said:
"Rey Singhania finally tamed by mystery girl or emotional hostage situation?"
My brothers were thriving on this.
Aayush forwarded me headlines like it was daily news.
Aryan added commentary like a sports announcer.
Abhay just said:
"This is a PR disaster."
I said:
"This is my LIFE disaster."
⸻
And then there was the most terrifying part.
Shopping.
It never ended.
EVER.
I was dragged into stores, exhibitions, jewellery trials, fabric discussions, and something called "pre-bridal emotional readiness consultation" (which I am convinced is a scam).
