Shreya looked completely horrified the moment her family pulled out those pictures.

And honestly... I didn't blame her.

Because the next second, I was staring at them too.

A chubby little girl with two braids, oversized glasses, and the kind of innocence you don't expect in someone like Shreya.

Same eyes.

Same sharp features.

Just... softer.

My gaze shifted between the photo and her standing right in front of me.

This couldn't be the same person.

I said it out loud without thinking.

"Like... really?"

The room went silent.

Every single person turned to look at me like I had committed a crime.

Her aunt sighed, clearly used to this reaction.

"Yes, it's her."

"She was a chubby little foodie since childhood. Then she got obsessed with dressing well, fitness, and basically transformed into... this."

She gestured vaguely at Shreya.

Shreya crossed her arms, clearly embarrassed.

Her ears were slightly red.

Interesting.

She does get embarrassed.

Her mother smiled gently.

"Shreya doesn't like these photos. They remind her of old days."

The room went quiet for a moment.

And then—

a servant walked in offering dessert.

Apple crumble.

I instinctively shook my head.

"I don't really eat sweets."

The grandfather leaned forward casually.

"Oh, but this one is made by Shreya."

Pause.

That changed things.

I stared at the plate.

She didn't look up.

Of course she didn't.

The man smirked slightly.

"And if you don't want it, I'll just send it back."

Manipulative.

Very effective.

I sighed.

"I'll try it."

The moment I took a bite—

I stopped.

It was actually good.

I looked at her.

"I didn't expect you to cook as well, Ms. Joshi."

She finally looked up.

"I can do a lot of things you don't know, Mr. Singhania."

Her tone was calm.
