Rey's POV

The ride back home should have been peaceful.

Keyword: should.

But nothing in my life involving Shreya has ever respected grammar rules.

She was sitting beside me now—front seat this time—arms folded, pretending she wasn't still thinking about what happened in the car earlier.

I was pretending I wasn't either.

We were both failing.

I glanced at her.

She noticed.

"Don't look at me like that," she said.

"Like what?"

"Like you didn't almost lose your sanity an hour ago."

I smirked.

"You started it."

She turned toward the window.

"Unfortunately, I also ended it."

That was... technically correct.

Annoying.

The car slowed as we entered my residence lane.

And immediately—

something felt off.

Too many cars.

Too many staff.

Too much energy.

Before I could even process it—

my mother walked out.

Smiling.

That was never a good sign.

"Rey," she said sweetly.

I narrowed my eyes.

"...why do I feel like I've lost control of my life again?"

She clapped once.

"Ten days."

Silence.

I blinked.

"...ten days what?"

She smiled brighter.

"Wedding."

I turned slowly toward Shreya.

She looked equally confused.

Which meant—

this was not her doing.

That was slightly comforting.

And deeply concerning.

Shreya's POV

"Ten days WHAT?" I finally asked.

Rey's mother was glowing like she had just announced national holidays.

"Wedding, beta," she repeated.

I blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Then slowly turned toward Rey.

He looked equally shocked.

Good.

At least I wasn't the only victim of sudden life announcements.

From behind us—

Aayush's voice exploded.

"TEN DAYS?? I STILL HAVE SCHOOL!"
