When Lily Langston goes to a game with her best friend. The last thing she ever thought to happen was being hit in the face with a ball.
But what left her even more shocked was when the guest pitcher himself, the known ruthless billionaire Hayes Gr...

"I hate you so much right now."
"So it's less than before?" He smirks at me as he looks up from his book relaxed on the couch.
"Yeah because you accepted an invitation on my behalf! We have to go to this stupid reunion tonight" he shrugs and chucks the book aside.
"I think it could be fun Lils"
"I think I'm gonna kill you someday"
"I'd like to see you try" he stands from the couch swiftly wrapping his arms around me.
"My graduation is in three days and this is how you reward me. A night fueled with torture and pain?" He shakes his head pressing me closer to his chest.
Recently he's been more touchy-feely in moments. We had about three months left together and it confused me with each day. After what happened he hasn't been aggravated by me.
But recently behind closed doors, I've heard him fighting with someone over the phone. He's mad about things, big things.
"Fine but you owe me drinks afterwards and we'll have to stop by to see my mother" he groans at the thought of mindless conversation with the woman because he was mad himself that she'd been silent for months.
"Whatever you want" he pulls me into his lips and for the first time, I'm confused by how carefree he is.
"It's almost as if you care about me, Hayes"
"I do" At that I roll my eyes and turn away.
"If you truly cared I wouldn't be going to this stupid thing tonight" A smack is placed on my ass and I turn in shock.
"You'll get another one tonight your good" I feel my cheeks flush and I immediately turn away.
"We have to leave soon" I warn.

Standing here in front of Mom's house disappointed me. Because Dad's garden was dead and the lawn was evidently overgrown. It's like she'd given up on the house they created a home together in.
"I should send a landscaper over" Hayes mumbled as I stared out at it.
"You shouldn't have to, my mother's job not yours" I step forward and knock on the door.
It swings open and her eyes widen in shock.
"Lilian!" My mother pulls me into a tight hug and pushes me back "I was just choosing a dress for your ceremony on Thursday"
"I didn't even know you were coming?"
"Of course I'm coming Lil why wouldn't I be?" She drags us into the house and greets Hayes with a hug. The place itself on the inside is all cleaned up leaving me confused, my mom was quite the slob.
