"You did what!" I stare at the ceiling as I let the words out of my mouth. I knew Olive wouldn't approve because this idea was ridiculous.

"You can't be serious; you're marrying a man you don't even know for a business deal? You couldn't even marry Jax. How could you do this?"

Ouch.

That one hurt. And as look up to face Olive, she knew she'd gone too far with that one.

"I'm sorry." I nodded in response, and she leaned back at the edge of my bed. "You're not the only one who's guilty. I remember when Sean was going to propose high school grad, and I broke up with him immediately after finding out." A small chuckle escapes the both of us.

"So, if you want, you could finally fuck Hayes?"

"Olive!" She crawls her way up the bed to lay beside me, giggling to herself, but then her expression changes.

"So this is the end of your Jake era?"

"I've been ignoring his calls," She laughs slightly, shaking her head. We both knew he deserved it; he was an ass. But he was allowed to be one because that was our dynamic.

"You are one ice queen freezing him out, Langston." She leans her head on my shoulder as I scroll through food menus on my phone.

"Chinese sounds good for tonight," I smile in agreement. "Along with that DVD of 10 things I hate about you." I know it was weird for us to keep DVDs at our apartment, but Olive liked the vibe of that childhood wonder.

"Can I counter that with some ice cream?" She hums in agreement.

"Since you're moving out and all with your sugar daddy..."

"Yes, it's on me. I promised I'd help you with a roommate. Don't forget that," she nods.

"You better be having good sex out of this." My phone buzzes again, and I lift it to see Jake's contact. I throw it against the bed, sighing.

"Not even a goodbye fuck huh?" She teases. But for some reason, I felt a pang of guilt in me. Again, I didn't owe Jake anything. But ghosting him felt off.

"No, because then it makes us look worse. Like I've been cheating on Hayes with Jake, trust me when I have to tell him about my fuck buddy." I groan into my hands at the thought of it.

"Just don't do it?" she suggests, but that opens the opportunity for many mistakes.

"Have you seen any movie ever? Let me tell you, that doesn't end well for most women who don't tell the guy, hey, I fucked another man before you!"
