"You are the best thing, that's ever been mine!" I feel his set glare on me as I sing in the passengers side

"You are the best thing, that's ever been mine!" I feel his set glare on me as I sing in the passengers side. But I didn't care, Taylor Swift got her music back.

He squeezes my hand as he continues, todays drive was a mystery. He wouldn't give me any indication on what today would behold. But nothing that would cause 'too much' leg work as he put it.

But as we drove down hidden coastal roads it left me curious. Trees laced the curved roads with an ocean view on the side. It was honestly soothing in a way.

"Look at the little market, they have cake oh and pie!" I stare at him as he just laughs, "On the way home we are stopping."

"Okay Lils" I turned my attention back to the small town we drove through hidden beneath the trees, we were over an hour away from the city by now. It was almost magical here.

As my gaze is fixed outside I feel him let go of my hand and bring his hand to my bump. It was only so much time til we'd have a little baby. That thought was terrifying but wonderful. No parent ever feels most prepared to be one, it just happens.

But even though Hayes claims that he knows he'll fuck it up. I know it'll be far from that, because if anyone was more excited than me it was him. I know how he was afraid in the beginning, but I know he's grown into the idea of it.

He once told me he never wanted to be a father because of his. His family line had to end with him due to the abuse that he endured. He didn't want children that would see him as a failure. But Hayes was far from that, he just didn't know what it was like to be loved or to love.

That you can create your own family and leave behind the ones that slowly became strangers to you. The adults you trusted as a child who violated you and sat by while you were harmed. But his parents were sick and he isn't broken as he says, he never was.

He just needed to be loved.

It was an adjustment period for him and I knew it. But I knew he was growing into it and that he secretly bought himself a dad car. The dealership accidentally called the home phone in which I picked up.

His car was ready to be picked up, his dad car. Sure he'd have a cooler car than most dads and probably be a bit of a douche about it. But he thought about it, he thought about his child's safety already.

"This towns wonderful, where are we?" As I turn to him he looks at me with a smirk and shrugs.

"You're so annoying" He laughed as I spoke and my hand drifted from the window and I placed it on top of his. The sounds of the ocean filled my ears as he rolled the windows down greeted by the smell of the salty air.

We drove down a pebbled road secluded from others to learn it was a drive way and soon a big white estate sat comfortably surrounded by acres of land over the ocean. It was almost unreal with its views.
