I dusted off my jeans and threw on my sweater. A braid would have to do for my hair, my face was a whole other story. I looked like I just crawled out of some pit.
I sunk my feet into my boots and made my way downstairs. He stood in the same spot but this time with his jacket on leaning against the counter.
"You look handsome this morning" he glanced back up at me, I couldn't believe I said it out loud. I've lost my most important feature lately, that being my filter.
"Thanks" I made my way back in front of him. His honey eyes stare into my hazel as we stand still again in this position.
"You do need to brush those teeth I lied" he rolls his eyes as I giggle and like the ass hole he is, he breathes in my face as I turn away.
"Go upstairs and get ready" I turn away from him and he grips my waist steadying me back against him "Hayes I meant it, you have the most ripe breath" he laughs as I squeal and his face nuzzles into my neck.
"I think the coffee made it worse" he admits and I break free from his grasp.
"Yeah go scrub those teeth!" He playfully pouts dropping his heading walking upstairs. It made me happy, it was humor I never saw in him.

"How many?" The waitress asks as she collects the menu and I hold up two fingers.
"You and these goddamn peace signs" he mumbles jokingly, Hayes Grant was out here making jokes this morning and it was frightening.
She brings us to a booth and we are seated. The diner was a bit busy today for a cozy town. But I was starving and the smell of that sizzling bacon was such a tease.
"So belated birthday boy, today I am going to show you all that Winderfield has to offer... according to Trip adviser" I lift the menu to my face spotting the French toast pleased.
"What would you two like to drink?" The waitress questions and I lower the menu to meet her eye line.
"Chocolate milk please" She flashes a weird look but I look across to Hayes, he's embarrassed by me.
"Hot black coffee please" she nods going back around the counter to grab our drinks.
"Chocolate milk Lils?"
"The choice of all milks duh?" I placed the menu down as he still glanced at his. The waitress returned to the table with our drinks.
"Did you decide what you'd like?"
"Yes, can I please get French toast with strawberries and whipped cream and a side of bacon and home fries?" She nods padding it all down and her eyes turn to Hayes.
