I could feel Lily's nerves as the car turned the corner towards the palace

I could feel Lily's nerves as the car turned the corner towards the palace. She squeezed my hand the whole way there. But thankfully her interaction with Elena today had been well.

But she was the least of the wolves. She had a personal vendetta against my mother, not me. I was just the grumpy cousin who hid in the back of family events as a child remaining quiet.

They seemed to get along, and she liked my wife significantly more than me. I was hoping that's how it all would play out today. I knew Lily hated my parents after the truth, she didn't even want to see or face them, to know them. But she was here for me, to support me and for that I'm grateful.

Laurie was already tipsy on the drive there. His bloody mary's just kept coming this morning. I don't think his pregamed shot of tequila helped him either. But he did this at most weddings like some tradition.

"It's going to be alright Lils" I was worried for her stress and the baby. I knew she was as well, if it were up to her she never would have come. For that I felt guilty, I should have never dragged her here.

"Wow" I turned to view what she was staring at out the window. There stood Versailles itself in all its glory. The golden gates holding back the massive palace behind it. It was closed off for the event as guests exited their cars for the occasion.

"How the fuck did Grandma pull this off, they'll have each other for what, ten years?" The water fly's out of my mouth onto the carpet of the car as I laugh at Laurie's words. But as I look to Lily she's left horrified instead by them, "What it's the truth?"

Laurie stares at her bump that showed through her red gown, I couldn't help but stare as well. The dress itself was driving me insane, "Do you know what it is?"

"It?" I question him as he speaks.

"What it is an it, no gender to name it by. Well it's definitely a boy but-"

"I think it's a girl" The words leave my mouth taking Lily by surprise. Laurie looked flustered and slightly shocked as I spoke them. But recently I've been think about how it's a girl. More so because of the sweeter foods Lilian's been eating.

The car comes to a halt and the driver goes to open the door. I step out first and offer my hand to Lily as she accepts it.

"What your not gonna offer me the same curtesy?" Laurie complains as he steps out himself.

"My wife's four months pregnant, I think I'm gonna give her a hand over you?" She giggles slightly as I speak. But my favorite part, is each time I call her my wife, the slightest blush could be seen against her cheeks.

"I should get myself a wife or a husband, maybe they'll give me a hand when I exit the car" He huffs walking forwards alone towards the palace. I looked to see people staring at Lily.

I'd met my grandmothers friends in the past. Each of them attempting to set me up with a relative of their own. Mostly for money and knowing I was the most eligible bachelor on the east coast. I made thirty under thirty every year until I hit that certain age. Now I was four years into it.
