Spock's POV
We are boarding today. Our shore leave wasn't long, only about a month. That entire time I kept looking through Novas file. In fact I'm looking at it now on my PADD. Although I am in a meeting with the crew.. Kirk is spewing out some type of speech. I continue to look and I realize.
"Nova Wild has not been assigned a position." I say aloud. Kirk looks to me with a curious look.
"Oh well about that, I was thinking I'll let her decide since she's qualified to be both head of security and in engineering. Also of course your assistant commander." Kirk says. I look up to see Kirk, Sulu, Uhura, Bones, Scotty, and a few others.
"I'll bring it up to her once she boards." I mutter.
"Did you guys really meet the Captain Wild?? You think she's gonna bring her sword?! Only a year and that woman has made quite the name for herself." Sulu went on.
"Yes we did, had drinks and everything. That lass can drink.." Scotty says with a smile.
"It's because of her anatomy, which reminds me. Her medical file is the shortest thing I've ever seen. Novas gonna need a major exam before we left off." Bones says with a sigh.
"There's not much about the Narkanion language either, I only know three words in her language and I don't even know if my pronunciation is correct.." Uhura says with a sigh. Knowing her she must see this as a challenge to take on.
"Guys let's get back on track... but yes it looks Star Fleet has taken no interest in any of these things." Kirk says, with a sigh. The meeting then goes on. I stare at the photo the file has of Nova. She has a nose ring that connected to her earring. Her smile in the photo reminds me of our conversation a month back. My chest begins to feel warm thinking about what she said. About us having a lot to talk about.
"Hello earth to Spock, are you smiling?" I hear Kirks voice, I look up to find the rest of the crew was no longer there.
"Is the meeting over?" I ask plainly.
"Well yes-" I stand and begin making my way out. "Hold up Spock, what were you looking at?"
"The crew members files and assigned positions." I say sternly. Was I smiling?
"You haven't touched your PADD since you mentioned Nova-"
"When will everyone be boarding?" I say walking even faster. Kirk hopes and skips to keep up.
"If you weren't to busy staring at Nova you would know that.." Kirk teases, he places a hand on my shoulder. "Spock, you know you can tell me about anything. Judgement free, your my friend Spock." He says with a small smile.
"I am well aware Captain." I nod my head to him before continuing my work, this time Kirk stays behind.
Was I really smiling??
Nova's POV
I'm so excited! The USS enterprise is so amazing. And I get to work with some amazing people! I grab my sword and strap it to my back. Before I leave my temporary apartment, I call my parents. I had rigged the phone they provided to send a farther single.
"Father Mother! How are things at home?" I smile when I here there voices
"I see your losing your talk girl," I laugh at my father. "But things are good!"
"The only thing missing is you!" I hear my mothers voice. I couldn't contain my smile.
"Se naktu ce." I say I miss you in my language.
"Are you not the most feared across the galaxies!? Our Captain daughter!" My mother says once more.
"I'm no Captain anymore mother."
