(Bruno's pov)

I sighed as I made my way to the kitchen. Julieta was preparing dinner, but I was too tired to care about food.

I grabbed a glass and filled it with water. The refreshing water helped to ease my scratchy throat.

I had been feeling exhausted and achy all day. I figured that it was due to the long day I had yesterday.

I had so many visions to get through yesterday morning, and I also had a series of house calls to make. It took me so long to get through everything that I had missed dinner.

When I made it home, I was barely able to eat a leftover arepa before passing out in my bed last night.

This morning I woke up feeling warm and having a massive headache.

The headache was probably because I over used my magic yesterday, and the excess warmth was likely due to the temperature.

I'm used to pain though, so it's no big deal. Doing too many visions always causes headaches, and I get sore after sitting in one position for too long.

This was the first break I've had all day, and I was extremely thirsty. A little lightheaded too, to be honest. Probably from staring into swirling sand all day.

"Hola Brunito...are you okay? You don't look so good." Julieta asked as she regarded me.

"Hola Juli. I'm alright, just exhausted. Long day of visions. I'm just here to get some water and get some sleep." I replied, ignoring the headache like I usually do. I'm thankful Y/N isn't here, she can always tell when I'm in pain.

"Did you want to eat anything?" I looked over at the arepas she had made, and my stomach churned uncomfortably. I shook my head.

"No gracias. I think I'll just go to bed early. Haven't gotten much sleep." I replied.

"Alright, but be careful hermano." Julieta gave me a concerned look.

I finished my water and bid my sister good night.

I made it to my room and threw off my ruana and shirt before getting into my bed.

I felt worse now than I did in the kitchen. I allowed the darkness of sleep engulf me.

(Y/N pov)

It has been a few days since I've seen Bruno. I knew he was busy the past couple of days.

Casita opened the door to me, and I was greeted by a fretful Julieta. She quickly shoved an empanada in my hands, which I ate. I learned a long time ago to just eat when Julieta shoves food at you. There is usually a reason for it.

She took a deep breath as I ate the snack.

She greeted me, before going into a rant over how Bruno was ill and ignoring his symptoms. I calmed her down so she could explain.

"Brunito's been overusing his gift again. He barely had any time to relax. Then, he came in while I was preparing dinner and he looked bad."

"How bad?" I asked, worried.

"He was stumbling a lot, and not like his usual stumble. It was like the room was spinning. He also looked flushed, but was shivering at the same time. He barely ate yesterday, and all he had today was a glass of water. He was in his vision cave all day today."

"I'll check on him." I offered, and she nodded, an appreciative smile gracing her face.

I quietly made my way into his rooms and made my way up to his bedroom. The two small flights of stairs couldn't keep me from checking on my boyfriend.

I found him in bed, just as I had expected and had to agree with the healer. He was flushed, and shivering.

I stepped up to him and laid the back of my hand on his forehead, and then his neck.

He had a fever. I grabbed a wash cloth from his linen closet and went into his bathroom to wet it.

I laid it on his forehead and gently brushed his curls away from his face.

I stepped out for a moment and wandered into his vision cave.

I had to yet again agree with Julieta. There were vision tablets all over the floor. The sand which was normally smooth like a beach, looked more like desert dunes. Piles everywhere.

This room hasn't looked like this since Bruno stopped pushing himself so hard to satisfy everyone, nearly 12 years ago.

I stepped out of the circular doorway and went back into the bedroom to check on Bruno.

I redid the washcloth and pulled his bed sheet, a little lower, in order to help him cool down better.

I left the room to talk to Julieta.

(Bruno's pov)

I woke up, confused and still a little sore. I glanced around my room and remembered how I went to bed without eating because I was exhausted.

Considering the amount of light in my room, I'd guess that it is very early morning. I'm not eager to get up, so I decided to turn and go back to sleep.

Or tried to at least. I had been so focused on my thoughts, that I hadn't noticed the small hand holding mine.

Turning my head, I finally noticed Y/n, asleep in my desk chair that she had moved. She looked so peaceful.

Her head was resting in her free hand and a bit of her hair covering her eyes. I resisted the urge to brush the stray strands away. I didn't want to disturb her.

I stared at her curiously, pondering why she was here and not home, asleep in her bed.

She is so beautiful, inside and out. Not for the first time, I have no idea how I got so lucky to have her as my girlfriend.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard her release a faint sigh. She moved slightly, her head slipping from her hand. It jerked her awake, and I silently watched as she glanced around.

Her eyes finally settled on me and she smiled gently. She leaned forward and placed the back of her hand to my forehead.

"Seems like your fever broke. How are you feeling mi vida?" She asked.

"Fever?"

"You were pretty ill yesterday. Julieta told when I came over to visit you yesterday. She said you didn't look well and wanted me to check on you. You were flushed and feverish."

I took a moment to think over how I had been feeling the last couple of days.

"I thought my exhaustion was just from overworking the past couple of days." I finally stated.

"There's been a bug going around the Encanto. Nothing too serious. People have been complaining about being dizzy, achy and sore. Most have had fevers and a few mentioned having sore throats."

"I did feel a little dizzy yesterday, and I woke up feeling sore. My throat felt scratchy by the time I saw Julieta. I also had a headache."

"All sounds like things people have had problems with lately. Your sister told me you had been in your vision cave all day yesterday, so that likely didn't help." She explained as she got up and gave me a bottle of Julieta's medical water.

She helped me sit up and gave me the water. I sipped the water and sighed in relief as the healing magic eased the worst of the pains.

I smiled gratefully at my girlfriend, glad to have her here with me.

"What about you though Y/n? I don't want you to get sick."

"You don't have to worry. Julieta used the symptom list to create a new empanada that can prevent people from getting sick. She supplied them to everyone who has yet to have the bug. It acts as an immunity. She gave me one before I even came up here, just in case."

After I consumed the water, I felt famished. Y/n smiled and helped me stand up, and we slowly made our way out of my rooms and into the rest of Casita.

Julieta sighed in relied when she saw us enter the kitchen, and she hastily prepared some arepas for us both.

My older sister scolded me for pushing myself and not resting when I should. I promised to slow down and take breaks when I needed it.

"Don't worry Juli. I'll make sure he doesn't overdo it again." Y/n reassured her.

Julieta ordered me to stay out of my vision cave, so I don't relapse. So Y/n lightly grasped my hand and we walked back to my bedroom where she helped me with my telenovela scripts.

We spent the rest of the day bouncing ideas off of each other.

I may not know what Y/n sees in me, but I will be forever glad to have her in my life.
