Stressful Tears

(Y/N pov)

I woke up beside my fiance of a few weeks, smiling. We get prepared for the day, as he explains his lineup. He had a couple of visions he needed to do this morning, before he had an afternoon of house calls to make. Minute things, thankfully. Palm readings, mostly. He preferred those over visions, even if they required him to go out. More vague and open for the customers interpretation and less angry people.

He left to make sure his vision cave was ready, and I went downstairs.

I made it to the kitchen and found the eldest triplet rushing around.

"Good morning Y/N."

"Morning Julieta, need help?"

"I'd love to have some help. Can you start the dough for my arepas? I need to work on shredding the meat."

I went to work, making a lot of dough, both for breakfast, and for Julieta to pass out in the village. I finished the dough, and Julieta stuffed the arepas with the meat while I worked on cutting up some fruit to go with our morning meal.

As I finished with this, Bruno came down and kissed my cheek.

When breakfast was ready everyone came done and sat at the table. Alma discussed the chores for the day and asked me to go to the market for her.

I accepted the list and, with a quick bye to Bruno, I left.

I made it to the market and grabbed everything Alma needed, but as I was on my way back to Casita, Osvaldo stopped me. He realized I was heading back to Casita, rather than my family home, and asked if I could take a delivery there. He had too many deliveries to make today. I agreed, since I was heading that way anyway, and included the things in my basket.

I struggled to bear the heavy basket back to Casita, and sighed in relief when the wonderful house helped me move things where they need to go as I unloaded the basket onto the kitchen counter.

I thought I had a moment to rest, when a stressed-out Pepa came in.

"Oh Y/N! Come on! Felix and I need help in the fields!"She grabbed my hand and pulled me back out of the house. She explained the farmers were harvesting some of the crops and needed help. A couple of their usual workers were engaged with other jobs.

I ended up helping Pepa's boyfriend, Felix in the field he was working in. It wasn't the biggest field, but the work was still tiring. Especially in the Colombian heat.

We finished in about an hour, and Felix asked if I could take the crops we collected to the storage building in the village. He had to help his family with the other fields. I nodded, and made my way back to the village.

Once I dropped the crops off with Felix's younger sister, I was ambushed by Agustin, who needed help collecting firewood for some of the villagers.

Agustin had just begun dating Julieta, not too long before I confessed my feelings to Bruno.

Agustin is very accident prone, so I worked on chopping the wood. I had him collect the chopped wood and take them to the villagers.

By the time I finished this task, I had thought my arms would fall off.

Unfortunately, Agustin got himself injured on the second to last trip, so I sent him to his girlfriend while I hauled the last load to town.

While in town, I had people coming left and right to have me deliver things to Casita, or to my family's home.

I felt my arm being tugged from behind, but a brief glance informed me, it was just Julieta. She needed someone to take over her line while she returns to Casita to make more food.

I heaved a silent sigh and nodded to her. She rushed off with a quick thanks, and I took her spot, handing out small arepas and breads to the people in her line.

Including Agustin, who was favoring his right leg because he sprained his ankle. A quick thanks from him and he were running off to help her in the Casita.

This is how the day continued. Work through Julieta's healing line until she and Agustin returned. Take things to Casita for the villagers, run a few forgotten errands for Alma. Take some deliveries to my parents. Help construct a larger fence to keep the donkeys in the pasture. Help clean the barn the donkey's stay in during the night. Help Pepa and Felix at the farm, and haul more things to Casita.

I ran into Julieta once again; she needed help chopping the vegetables for dinner. I was exhausted, but she really needed help so I worked through the peppers, carrots and onions.

The onions made me tear up, but thankfully the eldest triplet didn't mention it.

It was while cutting the last onion that I realized my tears weren't just from the onions, but from my stress.

I knew the Madrigals were busy people, but I never realized just how busy they were.

I finished the task and muttered something about cleaning up for dinner. I was shooed out the kitchen and made my way to the bathroom to wash my hands.

Even away from everyone else, the stressful tears wouldn't stop flowing. I tried taking some deep breaths to calm myself, but to no avail.

I didn't want anyone to believe I was too weak to be a Madrigal, so I knew I needed to go somewhere where I could calm down.

(Bruno's pov)

It was a comparatively pleasant day of work for me. No bad visions, no angry townsfolk. Not bad at all, but now all I want is to be with Y/N.

I saw her a few times in the village, running various errands, but we were both too busy to interact.

I made my way to the kitchen, hoping my girlfriend might be here, helping with dinner.

Only Julieta was in here.

"Hola, Bruno. How did things go today?"

"Better than normal. Didn't make anyone mad this time."

"That's good. Hey, have you seen Y/N? She was helping a little while ago and went to clean up. She wasn't looking too good, though..."

"Did she look ill?" I asked, concerned. My sister jerked her head.

"No. She looked like she was trying not to have a panic attack. She was crying, and I don't think it was just from the onions."

"I'll look for her." I stated, before leaving my sister to her work.

I knew she would want to be away from others when trying to get herself under control. Usually her room or to our favorite tree, if she's away from home.

However, I don't think that's the case here. So where would she go?

The answer strikes me, and I rush to my room.

I find her walking back and forth muttering to herself. There were still tears sliding down her cheeks, and her breathing was erratic.

"What's the matter Y/N?" I ask, and she turns abruptly. She turned her head, trying to dry her cheeks while telling me that everything was fine.

"I know you're not alright. Please, mi amor. Talk to me. I want to help you." She sighs and sits on my bed, hanging her head dejectedly.

"I knew you guys worked hard; I knew you were busy. I just never realized how busy the villagers kept all of you. I don't know how any of you do it. It's incredibly nerve-racking. All day, I worked from one job to another. I don't mind working, but I was all over the place. From Casita, to the market, back to Casita. To the farms, back to the market. Cooking and healing for Julieta. Going to the market for Alma. Out in the fields with Pepa and Felix. Chopping firewood. Deliveries to Casita for the villagers. All of this without a moment to rest."She sobbed into her hands, I sighed, not liking to see her so upset.

I pulled her into my arms, her head against my chest as I caressed her back.

"I love this family. I love you. I-I just wanted to prove I am worthy of being a Madrigal." Y/N stuttered through ragged breaths.

I continued stroking her back and listened as her breathing calmed, and she fell asleep.

I laid her in my bed and kissed her forehead, before leaving my rooms to find mi familia.

Everyone had made it to the kitchen by now, and I inform my family that Y/N had stressed herself out today, trying to help everyone.

"She feels like she has to serve everyone to prove herself as worthy of being a Madrigal."

Everyone felt bad for not realizing that she had worked herself so hard today, and wanted to make it up to her.

After a hasty meal, I returned to my bedroom to hold Y/N while we sleep.

(The next day)

(Y/N pov)

I woke up, in my boyfriends arms. I smiled as I kissed Bruno awake.

We made our way downstairs, where I was for greeted by Alma, who pulled me into a hug.

"You have nothing to prove, Y/N. You would make an excellent wife for my Brunito. As well as a fine Madrigal. You have been proving your worth to be a part of the family since you encouraged my children with their gifts when you were five.

My soon to be sister-in-laws, Agustin, and Felix agreed with Alma. I smiled in thanks to my second family.

Bruno and I were given the day off to relax, so after breakfast we went back to his rooms.

He turned to me, an adorable grin on his face.

"Do you want to act on my newest telenovela?" He asked, and I grinned back as he escorted me to his room.

Relaxing was the last thing on our minds.
