When you're a writer

You loved to read and write. It was something you have enjoyed ever since you was a child. Both interests were things you had in common with your boyfriend, Bruno. They were things you bonded over.

When kids your age were outside playing, you were inside reading books, and writing silly stories.

You're a little less creative than Bruno. He has quite the imagination. You were always amazed by his ability to create whole worlds for his characters to live in. Even when he used real-world places as the setting, all of his stories were unique. Each setting had its own history. The characters all had personalities and hopes and dreams.

A fictional kingdom would be complete with history, legends, lore, and people. The main characters were never one dimensional. They felt like real people you could meet, if only you could travel to that kingdom.

He'd say that a big part of his success is because of you.

"You inspire me everyday darling. I always picture you as the female lead. Just as I picture myself as the male lead." He explained.

Bruno always asks to read your work whenever you finish a story. You always feel shy when you hand them over.

He always compliments your work, whether you're writing fanfiction or scripts. He especially likes the stories based on his work. He finds it flattering that you love the characters and settings enough to write stories.

In fact he sometimes asks if he can use your stories as episodes if they fit in with his ideas for the series.

He also looks to you and your work when he is stuck on a storyline. He generally likes what he has written, and he has plans for later on. He just sometimes has trouble connecting the two parts.

He will have preliminary scripts written for where he sees the story going. He will ask you to read what has done, along with the preliminary work. Then he'd ask if you have any thoughts on how to continue the story.

You would work alongside him to write a couple of episodes, then watch as he is hit with inspiration once again. Sometimes he would be inspired by your drawings of you and him as the characters.

Once the storyline or movie script is done, he'd ask you to proof-read it. He does the same thing for you if you need help with your stories.

You are usually the ones to beta the others' work. In fact, you would usually work on your stuff side by side, then just swap papers for proof-reading.

After you swap back, you both go over everything the other person noted. Often asking each other about different notes explain your thoughts.

This often leads to friendly debates over whether the original writer should rewrite the part, or why they feel it is fine the way it is.

The debates never get heated, but you both usually end up on completely different subjects than the original work.

You'd eventually pause the debate and go over the conversation in your heads. You'd both glance at each other, wondering how you got derailed. Then you'd both start laughing.

You'd calm down, then you would return to the original debate. After that you'd fix the mistakes and think over the suggestions before adding them to your story. Another beta session later, then you are ready to call the story complete.

You and Bruno would send your scripts to your agent, who lives outside the Encanto.

Few people outside of the village know of its existence. However, none of them know the actual location.

A couple of families in the Encanto know how to get in and out of the valley. Your father is one of these people.

Every few months your father will take things out for the villagers. Letters, packages, and trade items. There is a nearby village that the people of Encanto use as a way to keep contact with the outside world while still being safe.

There are a post office and a bank. The head of each knows of the existence of the Encanto, but not the location.

Villagers that do work for outside contractors, like the seamstress and jeweler, use the bank for money transactions and the post office to send their wares out.

The head banker is the sole accountant for the Encanto account. The Encanto account is for all the villagers that do business with those from the outside. This includes you and Bruno.

All of the vendors and your agent know to send the money to the banks special account. The special account is the blanket term for Encanto villagers. The head banker keeps track of each transaction. The villager's alias (You and Bruno pose as a married couple named Eliza and Jose Moreno), and the vendor. The money and transaction list is handed to your father, or whomever goes to the bank.

The post office is a similar situation. Everyone who sends packages to villagers has to send them to a PO Box at the post office, and the head of the Post office handles all mail for that PO Box number.

This was the true secret to how the village survives its isolation.

"I'll take these over to Papa, so he can take them on his trip in a few days. I have a few orders for him to deliver anyway." You would usually tell him.

He'd nod as you put both scripts into your bag, and then grab a new notebook to start working again.

Even as you work on your own stories; you both have the desire to someday work on a script together.

You want to build a fictional world together with Bruno, craft a story together with your boyfriend. You have a few ideas of what a collaboration could look like, but nothing exciting enough to bring up just yet.

It seems that dream is still a little out of reach. For now anyway.

Perhaps one day you will be able to fulfill that dream.
